digital headphones?

Im looking for something that i can wear when it gets late and i cant have the surround on in the apt…

must be digital
must have mic capabilities…

does it exist?

why must it be digital??
head phones usually dont have a digital decoder built in and you amp/receiver is not putting out digital to your speakers, it is always an analog scource

The final output (speakers, headphones) can NOT be fully digital. It’s a major misnomer when companies put things on headphones and speakers that say “Digital” or “Digital Ready,” etc.

When shopping for headphones, what you’re mostly looking for is based on your needs:
Do you want to hear through them to hear people talking to you? = open air
Do you want them to block out sound, and be silent to people nearby when you’re listening at high volume? = ear bud / in-ear

More options exist, but that’s the basics.

Visit the forums there, tons of things to be learned about headphones.

If these are for a computer and you’re using onboard audio I wouldnt reccomend spening over $50 on a pair unless you get an amp.

i thought something was on the market… im sure something is on the market… i dont want to lose the digital sound… i need be able to hear were people are coming from…

what do you mean digital sound, unless you are running an optical/coax cable to each of your speakers it is still analog and still the sound coming out of your speakers is in analog

unless you mean that you want to keep your 5.1 sound in headphones, and if so that isn’t going to really happen. Also most good 2.1 systems can actually replicate 5.1 better than most 5.1 systems sound

also www.audiogon.com is your friend looking for prices on things

Usually with most headphones it’s much easier to track directional sound, as it’s more distinct as to which direction it’s comming from.
