So I bought a used vehicle from the dealer I work for and transfered the plates off my trans am and put the TA away in the garage. I received an insurance lapse notice from motor vehicle on those plates however they are now on the malibu I purchased that is infact insured. I tried calling the automated system and can’t seem to get connected to a live person. How can I get this fixed so my license doesn’t get suspended???

Call your insurance company and get proof of insurance. Bring that and the letter to DMV.
The automated systems are the worst. Can you just repeatedly push “0” until you get a person on the phone?
I have insurance cards for the same plates so that isn’t an issue. I changed companies and no unfortunately press 0 does nothing but bring you back to the start of the stupid menu.
Contacting insurance services is a nightmare. You can thank cuomo for their insane under staffing. You’re best bet is to bring your letter and insurance proof into the office and have them look deeper into it. The whole insurance system is computerized and it’s not too uncommon for lapses to go out when they shouldn’t.
Unfortunately i don’t have the time to go to an office. Guess I’ll try calling again tomorrow
