I had occasion to visit my local DMV at the beginning of this month, and was renewing my license and sticker. Chatting with the lady behind the counter, she printed up my new ownership, took my picture and gave my sticker. Tells me I’m all done. I collect my items from the counter and walk out. Get in to my car and realize as I’m folding up my paper work that I don’t have a receipt for my transactions. I head home and thinking what a bday present I got. Fully expecting a phone call or something. Time passes …
I went to the mailbox the other day, its been awhile and I have two letters from them asking me to contact their office. Now we all know what this is about. I’m wondering if anyone knows what happens if I don’t contact them. The letters where on the 4th and 10. Do you think they positively know that it was my transaction that was missed? Or are they just on a fact finding mission?
Had something similar happen, just pay the damn fee, it’s not worth the hassle.
I went in for a trip permit back in the day before the “T” stickers. The lady didn’t notice that another one was stuck to the back of the one I got. Same thing a week or two later, got a letter in the mail about it… I just ignored it because I was too lazy to bring it back since the closest one to my house is a half hour drive away. Couple days later a lady calls me and asks about it.
“Yeah, I’ll bring it in sometime”
“Can you bring it in today?”
“Maybe, if not then maybe tomorrow” (figuring I’d just neglect to do it and we’d all forget)
“Okay, try to get it in today though”
An hour later I get another call, it’s the manager of the place
“Bring that trip permit in today or you license will be suspended as of 5PM today”
“Okay fine.”
Haha…
You just gotta love how the MTO threatens to screw you over just to cover up their own incompetent mistakes.
It was jokes I went in and the lady told me my payment didn’t go through! I just laughed and was like whatever I’ll pay with debit this time … and the total didn’t add up properly but who’s complaining!
