Do it yourself rustproofing

scmitts: not oil.

scmitts: i’ve had my sisters car done twice now, and worked under it in springtime, no complaints.
its the shit

dont forget to ask for a bottle or 2 of ruststop remover. it will take any stain out of your driveway.

^ at the time, i simply told her to park on the grass for a week. no stains that ive heard of

it wont kill the grass. they tell you to park on the lawn or street for a few days.
that’d be great for the brakes. do it.

they can’t get out and complain if they can’t stop their car

oh yea. its not as if the shit runs off like water from a freshly trailered boat…

I think spraying oil under the whole car is retarded. Did you think this through at all? Should be fun to work on a car that has oil underneath. Dont you think this might increase the chace of your whole car going up in flames maybe? Oil burns, its like coating your car in gasoline. Sure it wont rust, but you have a good chance that it will burn to the ground.
have you done it? i didnt think so… id rather work on car with an oily belly than one with all the fasteners totally rusted to hell from NY salt.

i can see it catching on fire if you glob it on the top of the cat but you dont spray it on there. if you get some on the exhaust, it smokes for a few miles. no big deal. ive sprayed it on lots of cars with great results. the motor honey is cheap and really thick and stays where you put it for the most part. it helps if you drive on some dirt roads after application. makes an oily paste that really stays on well.

and besides, HYBOOST asked the folks that have actually tried this… not the opinionated know-it-alls that run rampant on forums these days.

Brian

i edited my first post… it was eastwood, not harbor freight for the sprayer.

Brian

I want to try this, however I don’t want to be a copycat and use motor oil,I’m still deciding on what I’m going to use…

Vaseline or Crisco?

Lard Mobile vs Lube Mobile

vaseline and crisco will be hard to apply.

i can see crisco being cheaper and if you heat it till it melts, you can brush or spray it. itll be pretty hard though when cold.

i like the motor honey stuff, cheap and thick.

why not just go get the rubberized undercoating stuff they sell @ pepboys in a rattle can and do it up the right way
The rubber stuff sucks, all it’s gonna do is keep moisture between the metal & the proofing. It will look nice , that is untill it rusts through.
I used to apply “rusty jones” back at the dealership, you want to talk about junk??
you are dumb for doing this,#1 it wont last very long. #2 its not good for the environment#3 Rust stop is guaranteed for life.
Not good for the enviroment? I hope your car is 100% emissions legal Gandhi.
It’s not like I’m pouring old oil down the drain. I used around 2 qts, got a few drips.
Go try to cash in on the “guarantee” when your car starts rusting.

What planet are you from?? It’s been done for about 25 years, I don’t remember hearing about any rustproofing car blazes, maybe cuz the flash point of oil is 6 times higher than gas. It lasts, 1 year. You gotta do it every year. You ever work on a rusty car that every bolt, nut, fastner breaks off?? I feel this is an easy inexpensive (free) way to prevent this.

Almost exacty the same oil that you put in your car. It has an agent in it to thicken the oil so it won’t drip. Call them, I did,

No, oil dripping on the grass won’t kill it!! LOL!!!

The shit those places use is almost like gell its thick…I have rust proofed cars with it before.
Hey, have you broke 7.7 yet? Dont use new oil, You might get some on your convertor and then it’ll flash to like, 7,000!
