Do you drive a clunker?

So I decided to run my car through the clunker program website and I am eligible.

While I don’t plan on scrapping my car for $4,500, I found this funny.

So who else drives a clunker?

2001 BMW 525iT : Nope, combined is 19mpg : http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/CarsResult1.jsp?column=1&id=16880

1998 BMW M Roadster : Nope, combined is 21 mpg : http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/CarsSelectEng.jsp?year=1998&make=BMW&model=M%20Roadster&hiddenField=Findacar

2000 MB SLK230 : Nope, combined is 22 mpg : http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/CarsResult1.jsp?column=1&id=15615

What a stupid program …

no. damn 40mpg

05 GTO, yep, qualifies.
00 Expedition, yep, qualifies.

Both are worth more than 4500 though.

not even gonna bother checking…the civic gets close to 40 and the 240sx is over 20

lol
Yep, the M5 qualifies

Really? KBB trade in on the average expedition is less than that

SHO: 18mpg
Mustang: 17mpg

Both qualify. I’d be tempted to dump the SHO off as it’s not worth anything…but as I’ve said in other posts it’s basically been free transportation for me and knocks down 26-27mpg.

Blazer - 16 mpg, so Yes
M3 - 21 mpg, so No

Hmm. So the only qualification is less than or equal to 18 combined MPG. Yep, my <2 year old Xterra with <25k is a clunker. How insulting. :zong:

My girlfriend was so excited to do this with her 100k+ miles 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. She never bothered to check if her car was eligible and spent hours and hours doing research for a new car, options, pricing, payments, loans, etc.

We went to the website last night and when it said “Sorry, your car gets 24 combined MPG and is not eligible.” she almost lost it and broke things.

:frowning:

I wish her car was eligible too. It looked like a great way for her to get a nice new car for cheap.

:fu:

$5323 for “good” with my miles/options. I’d put mine a lot closer to excellent than good though, which is $5700.

I hate the entitlement of my generation. :frowning:

1995 Mustang GT - yes
1998 Explorer V6 - yes

I like the options your car has: GUZZLER

18 or less, 25 years old or newer and driveable
