Cash for clunkers my ass,Yet another gov program I will not see a damn dime of. Thank you mister Im looking out for the middle class president. Im sure that there are alot of people who could have maybe put that 3 or 4 k to better use. Maybe rather then blowin it on cars perhaps he should have used it for healthcare. But hey thats just my .02. This programs a joke in its self, I wonder how many “capital hill” fatcats went out and unloaded their lexus and bmw SUV’s for something bigger and newer because of this.

to anwser Jay, a bunch of idiots on craigslist are inflating prices of stuff, but the underlying fact remains, even with a 4500$ credit, poor people wont be buying a new car, so the abundance of 1 - 2k cars will still be around, they will just be less pos’s for the price.

FUCK YOU. GIMME MY MONEY.

:word:

I had a similar stance prior to the program initiation - however, the HUGE rate at which the public has taken advantage of it makes me think the program MAY be serving more of a purpose then I ever expected. $4500 dollars on a new car was never going to get the true “clunkers & beaters” off the road, but thats not really the aim of it either. It’s aim was MPGs. What says MPG pigs more:
a.) Clarence mom taking two kids to soccer in an Excursion that has ZERO resale / trade value in todays market
b.) Leroy driving the 1987 Caprice Estate wagon (which I assume may well get better combined MPGs then the excursion) whose retail value flatlined 15 yrs ago
c.) Pat in his well maintained and illegally modified Transmarobird

$0.02

Also the deals the OEMs are throwing on top of the clunkers programs has been strong.
$4,500 cash back, 0% for 72, etc

Im still amazed by the Chrysler double up offer… almost got me to pull the trigger.

I considered pulling the trigger on a truck, but everything is still over priced imho. even with the credit, its like buying it for what it should cost, so no real incentive to me.

My IS300 qualifies. Sweet.

+1

You have no idea how many freinds i have who are mooching off the government.

People with no education, not married with multiple kids and think the world owes them a six figure income for doing absolutely nothing.

Welcome to the american dream :meh:

My truck has a GVWR of 14,000 lbs, so it doesn’t qualify.
Everything else I own is wayyyyy too old.
Nothing I own qualifies. So, by definition, nothing I own is a clunker. lol.

Ditto.

1995 acura integra rs, 1.8L 16v non-vtec, severe honda rot. 1991 VW Golf GL 1.8 8v (at least according to the title…) actually pretty clean, so no, neither my 15 year old car with 135k nor my 20 year old car with 160k qualifes

89 Prelude… Nahhhh, who am i kidding.
