Do you have a cell phone?

I remember when I was in highschool I was the only person with a prepaid tracfone that my parents got me so I could call them and tell them to pick me up from practices, etc.

Now I hear through co-workers they are getting their early teenagers iPhones, or even 8 year old’s a cell phone. WTF??

So I obviously expect a landslide in this poll, but I’m interested to see who doesn’t have a cell phone, and if they don’t why don’t they? Too expensive? No need? If an 8 year old needs a cell phone why don’t you?

Yes. I have a cell phone.

Yes. I had a cell phone in Middle School and Highschool.

In 5th and 6th grade, I had a pager. My mom would page me when I had to come home for dinner/bed.

no. i realize everyone has them and they’re pretty much the norm, but i’m seriously scared of the cancer thing. i mean i already smoke, so why make my chances any worse than they already are?

haha brendan i had that phone. Mr Heffley always wanted to play with it in 8th grade.

i think it would be cool to see what age people got theirs at first, since everyone pretty much has one.

ok, so here is your thought process:

I am scared of cancer.
I smoke, disregarding the plethora of studies proving the direct cause/effect relationship between cancer and smoking.
I will continue to smoke, but reduce my chances of cancer by not buying/using a cellphone.

I was 13 when I got mine, but it wasn’t exactly a call anybody anytime thing, since nobody had a phone that I knew, so it was a call home type phone that had like 100 minutes a month.

Right around then was when I think a lot of people did. Thats when I got a phone plan in my name, not prepaid, text messaging, etc.

I am 23 now and have had a cell phone since I was 15. Had one of the first phones that could text (awesome during tests before schools wised up to this) and my freshman year of college, got the first LG phone that had the camera on it (VX 6000?)

I think the tumor in the side of my head but who cares, I was cool.

I would list all the phones I have had but I cant remember the model numbers.

Bell Atlantic Mobile flip phone, Motorola Startac, Motorola (non flip phone but could text back in the day), a shit load of LG phones including the VX 6000 camera phone mostly because they were easy to hack into with a usb cable and bitpim, Treo 600, Treo 650, Samsung U740, Black Jack 2, iPhone 3G
