this lol. I used to get a massive kick letting people drive my previous focus when it was turbo with a stage 4 clutch, just to watch them struggle to get it moving. Once moving though, most people that drove it thought it was lots of fun to drive. I’ve let a couple people drive my current focus, but no one since I did the RS conversion…I have too much time and labor wrapped up in the bodywork to be able to forgive anyone but myself if it were to get banged up somehow.
I drive a fucking Optima…so no, nobody can ever drive it.
I used to be a little anal about it but as others said, its just a car, its replaceable. I feel like with things you put that much time/emotion/money into, its natural to want to share it with others (except for your wife… unless youre into that kind of thing).
Im also with Newman on not generally wanting to drive others peoples cars either. Its not that im worried that id break something, but more so that I know im not gonna drive it like a dickhead anyways so whats the point.
Actually this weekend the Viper had two new people drive it. They both loved it, I encouraged sideways driving.
I’m glad I was given the opportunity to drive some cool/awesome cars from on here; Choda’s Mustang, Newman’s E30, Mingle’s Miata, Cougarspeeds Rx7, etc. Now just waiting to drive a certain p-car, cough cough.
They last until Dakota takes them for a rip!
I whore out my truck to people all the time… The car I will let someone drive on the gate springs… but with some boost it is really a handful… A few seconds into the throttle and you’re doing 130-140 on the edge of tires breaking loose.
I don’t usually let people drive my cars. The Subaru is one thing and well if someone needed to use it, sure. With the Honda, only a select few can drive it. I don’t let people usually drive it unless they own one, have owned one before… or just are very good with cars. This car is twitchy and too many people can be careless. I’d rather wreck my car than have someone do it for me.
I’ve watched/seen too many videos or stories about people wrecking friends vehicles.
I let a number of people drive my cars. I always have. It’s just a car. I like the “holy shit” response.
It depends on the person, but a number have driven my cars on track. Most of the people who I let drive either have experience in faster cars or wouldn’t have the guys to come close to the limit of the car. It comes down to responsibility and respect I think.
Well that’s probably because it hasn’t left your driveway, lol. Park that shit in the weeds homie!
Let me drive your car at the BMW autocross at the Avon Kart Track, because they don’t allow V8s.
Ain’t nobody learning stick on my clutches. If I knew for certain that someone could drive stick (i.e. they drive something with a clutch now) then sure no problem. If you crash it I just ask that you crash it hard.
Haha. I tried bringing it this past fall but they wouldn’t let me go
What are you driving right now?
Most of my friends are alcoholics…I’ve driven a lot of cars.
Today? Xterra. Otherwise a civic. Nothing that anybody asks to drive anyway.
Why wouldn’t they let you?
Nate brought his Lotus to a BMW autocross last year at Avon.
You should bring yours, and let me co-drive.
Oh, hey.

Yeah, if they drive something of similar value. I wouldn’t let my broke dick friends drive my car, only because I know they can’t replace a tire…let a lone a clutch.
I let and encourage my friends to beat the piss out of my civic. Thats why I own it and I like to share the fun…slow fun. The accord is new so only one person has driven it. and that person let me drive their car in exchange because I had been wanting to. However, although they aren’t expensive or unreliable, no one is learning to drive a manual trans in them and I don’t just give the keys to people I don’t know.
Really? They said “MINIs and BMWs only.” I’ll try again this year.
