a casino that will be empty in 5 years when the novelty is gone.
all the casino did was create mostly low paying service jobs.
another country? its not like it was 15 years ago.
yeah but do they employee pittsburgh workers? i see plenty of workers with OH and WV plates, infact one construction worker that hit my car was from CT
a MAJOR problem everyday is traffic to the east… the T to monroeville would have been too logic for the assholes that run this state. not only do waste time stitting in traffic everyday, they lose money out their tailpipes sitting in traffic everyday. How does PA fix traffic problems? built a mass transit? NO…they have road construction projects that take forever becasue of UNION workers that work at a snails pace because they are scared to be out of work if they work too fast or actually do a good job.
one last point… the top 2% of wealth in america pay 50% of the taxes…taxing the rich more is not the answer, those peoples money is what makes the economy run not welfare motherfuckers that buy jordans with our money… the way to fix shit is kick all the illegals out either by catapult or cannon, stop giving the money to lazy ass motherfuckers, kill the people that are sitting on death row…infact we should just blow up max security prisons and wipe out a major drain on society. This country needs to stop building entertainment and go back to infrastructure.
if you knew exactly how a labor UNION is ran then you wouldnt be bashing as you are. Unions in general are being categorize as lazy when in fact the Labor/skill unions bust their ass. Yes pgh employees are being used as i know several ppl from the local working there. as for road construction not of all it are using union workers.
Pittsburgh has decided to become more of entertainment then anything else. Hell PGH is even a location now for GOOGLE, the time of old are gone.
casino allowed families to eat as well for past several years as it was being built. any major construction project going on feeds families, so more construction the better off economy is. Demoing the old buildings and building new creates work for a few months/years. This takes ppl off UE benefis and allows them to work for however long. Allows ppl to put money into their pensions/savings/etc.
as you knock these things, if wasnt for the things being build you wouldnt have an office or etc. You wouldnt have a job, you wouldnt be able to eat/etc.
Anyways, I think the way to get over to the North Shore before was fine (walking across the bridge). Is there really that much shit on the North Side to make it a great attraction? I was in the Casino once and that’s all I needed. Sorry, we’re in Pittsburgh, there is no need for $15 minimum tables at 5pm on a Wednesday.
Agreed with above, they should use it as a method of transportation to the more heavily traveled areas. Monroeville, The Airport? Maybe even bring one into the East End since that is up and coming.
the casino thou is for entertainment purposes…its actaully raping the weak individuals of their money at record pace and will probably create more buglaries, petty theft, hold ups…etc… its so convienient now. its built…no one else is making money from it construction… all thats left is mostly low paying job instead of what could have been a white collar factory (tech stuff) or another corporate head quarters, both with real jobs, that have benifits, pension…etc etc…
and a far as unions i work with them everyday. i work with SEIU… just like the skill and labor unions they have that same union mentality… and yes there are guys that work their ass off but i would say of people in unions i know, half are legit people and half are lazy, or scumbags, or drunks…etc… people act like assholes because the unions protect them… it gives u all a bad name… what you should say is fuck them mother fuckers and kick their asses out but instead you guys stick together because “that my union brother” like its some fuckin college frat… i’m not pointing the finger at u quik because i know you and i know how you are but you know the kinda people im talking about. police and firefighters unions are aweful… they get jobs back for people that should be in fuckin jail. teachers unions disgust me…this area has some of the highest paid teachers in the country and yet they bitch and moan all the time and strike… how bout turning out a better product, they dont teach shit in school anymore and kids are fuckin idiots. i’ve yet to meet a boilimaker thats not a lazy fuck/drunk. they brag about not doing shit!!! i really think the good ones are plumbers, elcetricians, etc… the more skilled the labor the better the people are, not just block heads.
By creating the tunnel we now have potential to access this set of tracks. This provides the potential of interconnecting Etna, Harmarville, Millvale, Bellevue, Kilbuck, Sewickley, etc. Hell Shaggy might have a stop right in front of his house one day.
It sure would be nice to take a 5 minute ride down 79 and jump on a train into town.
possibly the biggest planning failure was constructing the waterfront…who thought a train crossing wouldnt cause that big a problem when you only have two ways in and out… haha
I probably won’t be using it. If I’m going to a Steeler game, I’ll park in town and walk over the bridge by point state park. And there are no other teams worth watching on the north shore, so that’s the only reason I’d be over there unless I’m parking for work.
A: Bus stop in front of my residence,Still don’t know how to use it.
B: Rail lines in front of my residence, Still can’t access amtrak unless i drive 10 miles into the city. Still don’t know how to use it.
C: Pittsburgh has a Subway ?
Not a subway, per se…they consider the “T” a subway since it is underground in downtown. It only has three stops though, but is is free and relatively quick, with noticeable less of a piss smell that the buses
The North shore looks so damn ugly and confusing within this decade. Next will be a giant 30 foot wall on RT.65 to hide manchester Owned by the port authority that will cost $10 million per wall and 25k for each steel beam.
