I guess if thats what you like go for it, not my cup of tea though. I will say though that my 5sp accord was the best DD i have ever owned.

I took a class called Road Vehicle Dynamics in 2002.
There was actually a few days when we talked about this disadvantages of FWD to RWD.
Tires have a certain vector force that they can apply (a function of friction, normal force, temp, etc). Longitudinal forces always overcome lateral forces in tires. Since you’re trying to maximize lateral force in the steering wheels, it makes no sense to add longitudinal input to the tires, because it will always reorient the force vector. (This is a bad thing)
I specifically recall his reasoning why FWD was BETTER:
It’s simpler
It makes sense for a street car to maximize the weight over the drive wheels.
Then we went on to talk about weight transfer, tire loading and weight distibution of RWD race cars.
Anyway, this was a PROFESSOR at UB telling us that FWD sucked. I THINK the class was MAE376…
Lastly, I think racing sucks. I don’t like it. But you better believe those guys are doing everythng that they can to squeeze every last drop out of their cars, so while I don’t think it’s cool, I DO think it’s a legitimate argument to validate the superiority of one platform to another.

I think the only redeeming quality of a 300whp honda is that it is SOOO sketchy most of the time. The fact that it seems way faster than it is, actually makes it a little bit of fun.

Everyone likes different things and chooses different platforms for more reasons than can be posted here.
But in my opinion, FWD cars become “cool” when they start to beat-up on RWD / AWD cars, big V8’s and drivers with large egos. Toda’s car, Mr. Smith’s car, Kingsario’s car, etc. those cars were cool despite the obvious performance & technical limitations of the FWD platform because they simply put people in their place. That’s when FWD becomes cool. :tup:
Am i wrong here, i though fwd was supposed to be more efficient? As far as like fuel mileage and use of power. Not that it matters in this thread really but just kind of made me think of it.
This is true, but not covered in the course, as it was strictly about hanfdling and chassis geometry.

i still like me a nice honda/acura. the main problem is the amount of ricing that goes on… there are still some cool honda owners that know what they are talking about. i would be happy with a b series gt30 clean build. but then again im a honda “fanboi”
