Didn’t they have that same issue on the first gen cars, but later tightened the tolerances on the hood?

sure for some things, but the body is not something that should have to be fixed. I just hope this thing is a mule with seriously messed up gaps.

Yes, but it was not nearly as big, and the only space in question was near the headlight. The rear one didnt exist in that body.
Just got off the shitter, finished the article about the new Viper in motor trend, pinning it against a ZR1. No official numbers, but significant improvement over previous models, if someone has the link to the article, post it

Edit: just to add my own perspective, I’ve seen it up close at the NY auto show, I personally like the old looks better
Sound - Pretty sexy, when in Detroit in August, right near Chrysler Headquarters in Auburn Hills, 3 of them with manufacturing plates were flying through traffic, caught up with them at a light, idle sounds mean
I enjoy the tail end of it, but the front end just doesn’t do it for me.
Saw 3 of them at SEMA. Hot.
For some reason they were all next to Mclarens
Chrysler Group has cut output of the SRT Viper by a third and will reassign scores of workers to other plants because of slow sales, growing inventories, and the onset of colder weather.
Ralph Gilles, head of the SRT brand, said that the Viper’s delivery to Chrysler’s 443 SRT-certified dealers was delayed earlier this year by difficulties in achieving internal quality standards set for the exotic sports coupe.
The original goal was to limit production to 2,000 a year, but as of now they’ve only sold 426 in the United States and dealers are sitting on 565 unsold models.
You mean it’s hard to sell a Chrysler product for over $100k? It was a tough sell back in 05 when the $86k Viper was going against the $65K Z06 but now at over $100k it’s priced itself into some pretty big competition.
they should make it a better car and worth that kind of money…
You know what it would cost to buy if it were actually worth $100k?
If you guys keep posting you realize Dan will get involved
I also don’t understand how its not worth 100k based on performance/power
What else can you get with that power/performance at that price point? ZR1?
Plus Viper ACR is wayy faster around the ring than any other production car, spanked ZR1 by 4 seconds, and that was the old ACR
And then I took my ZR1 on a drive around town and enjoyed it. The Viper ACR owner tried and died of a blood clot because of being so cramped.
haha^ They are tiny for the driver, but I was pretty comfy as a passenger in Gen III, but I’m only 5’9"
There are just to many other cars in that price point. And when your looking to spend 100k. Americans think sure thing , viper . While the rest of the world is not thinking about a American brand car. Ie 911, R8 , gallardo etc in that 90-115k range.

Not being a dick here but the V10 R8 is 150k
Gallardo starts at 181k
911 Turbo coupe is 131k and up
Viper 102k
30-80% price difference.
Depending if you want to drive around a track or go fast in a straight line the Vette(Z07) and the ShelbyGT500 are a better value.
The problem is if you’ve got over $100k to spend on a toy chances are the difference between $105k and $150k isn’t a big deal which puts the 911 and R8 in play.
To look at it another way, most people paying 6 figures for a car want more status than the Dodge badge is going to bring.
It’s not really debatable that it isn’t selling when you hoped to sell 2k a year and you’ve moved 426 through Oct. Audi sells 2-3k R8’s each year. It’s hard to nail down how many 911’s get sold because there are so many flavors but it’s safe to say a boatload more than Vipers. Hell Ferrari moved 3500 units in the first half of 2013 and their sales strategy was sell less cars for more money so they’re more exclusive.
For bang for your buck, the shelby is the best deal.
Even the boss 302s are a lot of power for very little money, but i digress.
You are all forgetting that 90% of Viper owners and future buyers are people who are looking for a “wow” factor with their car. People just dont notice a vette anymore, and a mustang? Forgetaboutit.
Is it a little slow in a straight line considering the specs? Well the old ones were. Are they a little uncomfortable to drive? Again the old ones were, but I thought that was part of the draw.
If you dont like them, go drive a kia.
I personally am happy that another manufacturer is producing something to get excited about.
Granted, ill probably never buy one.
This.
So I look at it as the opposite
I would imagine most people who want to buy a Viper would stick with domestic brands putting it up against cars like the Ford GT, and the Corvette.
But almost no one wants to buy a Viper…
