EDIT: I never mentioned above, but I think the Gen V Viper is ugly as fuck. The only thing I like about it is the Ass end. Put the front of a C7 and the rear of the Viper together and that would be pretty siQQQQ
They are a gorgeous looking car in person, that is for sure. I just would not spend the money with all the other options on the table if I had the cash.
The Viper has always been known for its 10-cylinder salute, its part of what makes it so special and different than what is available, and it makes massive amounts of power. Another nice thing about the V10 is that because it is so “under built” from the factory (according to Die Hard Fanboys, Final GTS may want to jump in), it does not need significant engine reinforcement to make 2-2.5x the power, such as the Gen II that came with 450HP, guys could make 800 safely (depending on the year some things were changed up), without any internal rebuilds.
I’m also very surprised you find it attractive, I just think as the years go by it just keeps getting shittier (except the Gen IV ACR, I LOVE). I’ve always wanted a 96/97, but decided to hold off, those cars are going to be worth so much money and they keep escalating in price, at this rate the Gen IV with the 8.4L will be in the 50s range by next year, which I’d much rather have.

Of course you’ve seen one, haven’t you ever had diarreah?
Wrong… I’d buy an old NSX. But nice try. I’d also consider a c7 z06, GTR, or Porsche before the viper any day. I do not like dodge besides old muscle. I grew up around 70s Challengers and Chargers.
Because you dont need a V10 to produce power. And I’d take an Aston Martin or Ferrari with a V10 even if used over buying a Dodge Viper. (my preference)
i drove an ACR SRT-10 (my business partner bought one last year) and it is basically undrivable.
the clutch, the gearing, the driving position, the trim and storage space… there are so few situations where it is worth the discomfort. I have not driven a C7 but I have with the C6’s and it’s by far a better car in virtually all ways than a Viper.
btw, while this was a criticism it was also a compliment. being undrivable i mean.
it’s undrivable in the sense that you can only drive it like an idiot if you want to enjoy yourself in any way. total hooligan car and extremely dangerous in the hands of the kind of people who actually buy them :).
I drove an SRT10 (non ACR) in Edmonton that belonged to a CARSTAR franchisee. He bought it as a milestone car for himself and never drove it. it sat at another CARSTAR shop most of the time being cleaned. he sold it 2 months ago after putting maybe 5,000km’s on it in total in like 3 years… which is about par for the course.
The 2010 Viper ACR holds the record behidn the Aeriel Atom, it outperforms the 2014 T/A, which is why the 2015 T/A 2.0 is coming out, but according to insiders the T/A 2.0 still does not perform the same. Who the fuck put Italians in charge of this car?!
