I try not to go below 1/8th just because pumps are expensive and they’re cooled by the fuel.
it was def. funny watching you try and drive your Vette with almost no gas
I have a gas light, but no matter how long I drive I haven’t actually seen it turn on yet. I got up to 360 miles last week and pumped 14.5 gallons in. I have a 17.3 gallon tank. Honda’s have terrible gas gauges.
stock fbody fuel pumps burn up fast if u run them low
I dont like to get to low because when i make fast turn on a low enough tank i lose power…
Word I think the Maxima goes on at like 3 gallons…
I could care less if my car even had a gas gauge. I know my fuel mileage and I know how big my tank is. I reset my tripmeter every time I fill up. No need to drive your car till you’re stranded just to figure out how far it can go on a single tank. :bloated: But hey, if you’re into that sort of thing…
i dont have a fuel light and my gauge goes up n down like a quarter tank when i turn.
once the needel is right past the red line when im on a straight away is time to fill up
my old bonne, if i was less than a 1/4 if i took a right hand turn at more that 5mph it would cough and choke, but the fuel pump never died, and i had the fuel light come on countless times, it was great being unemployed with a car. $10 a week make it stretch
i get gas at 1/4 tank, because that really means i only have about 3 gal left and if i hit the brakes too hard all the gas sloshes away from the pickup and the truck stalls. stupid GM sending units, first 1/2 of the tank lasts for a week, second 1/2 lasts for about 10 minutes!
yeah i dont go below 1/4 tank becuase its really bad when u suck up dirt at the bottom of the tank and letting ur pump go dry is stupid. i act like 1/4 tank is e and always fill up when im on a 1/4. which reminds me, i gotta get gas when i leave work
never go below half tank… i just dont like NOT having a full tank
HOnduhs run on vapor not gas.
I am convinced. I run E for days.
I used to not do this (worried about running all those sedements (sp) ). But have been bad recently.
My Blazer’s gauge was 1/4 tank off. I learned the hard way (twice). Luckily I was able to get it to a gas station rolling down the hill though.
I know how many miles I get when I’m on E / The light is on…
Although now I"m not 100% sure… when ford put in the new pump after recall I swear I have a 1gal bigger tank… it’s odd. My GF is always yelling at me about putting gas in the DD because she’s affraid that I"ll run out of gas…
I can’t wait to take her for a ride in the dub… the sending unit isn’t set right and it is 1/2 tank on a full tank… so I can ride on e all the time… I just pop the bonnet and look inside the gas tank to see if I have anything left… sometimes I use a match if it’s dark out.
o come on now! i’ve had 2 of these things (both '88s) and havent run out of gas yet. for those of u who dont kno, 88-98 GM trucks have the sending unit up front and the float is in the back. so if u have less than a half a tank, when u hit the brakes, it does down to e and when u accelerate, it goes back to to half. when u get less than 1/4 tank, its impossible to tell how much u have. when u cant see the needle moving AT ALL (even when accelerating hard) then its time to fill 'er up!
when I first got the car I would never let it get below a 1/4… but now since gas costs so much. and I dont have much extra money… I tend to try and stretch it. plus i’m lazy. I dont like to go get gas every other day. I fill up on thursdays and mondays usually
+1
i got an extra 3 gallons when the E light comes on… ive been getting 17 mpg… so i figure 51 more miles after the light comes on… but i normally fill up when it turns on…
i dont drive a full size C/K series truck…
