Does anyone else not care that they ...

are on “E” while driving? I’m notorious for doing this. I read awhile back that when your gauge says you’re on E, you still have a decent amount of gas left in the tank. I’ve yet to run out of gas :knock on wood: and am on E right now actually lol. I’ve driven out to UB and back just after I hit E with no probs, which is approx 30 miles. Just wondering if anyone else do this as much as I do …

EDIT: one of these days I’m going to hit E and just keep driving until the car dies on me. That way I’ll know exactly how far my car can make it on E

my car says i’m on “R”

stupid german cars

reminds me of that seinfeld episode where kramer was test driving cars

I usually wait till i’m deep into the red, the gaslight’s been on for days… then I refill…

last week i got in my car(had been sitting for 2 weeks)… left my dad’s house… go to the kwikfill before the res(in silvercreek)… and the car shuts off. I barely rolled into the gas station. What irked me about this is… my gas gauge was still on a quarter tank. Its still fucked up to this day… not sure why.

I am 99% sure thats what my scion says too.

That all depends on the car. For example, once my gas light goes on I’ve got like a 4 Gallon reserve. But on the Chevy Corsica I used to have, once the light came on you had like 2 miles.

I only go down to a quarter tank…i’m always afraid i’m going to run out of gas.

i have lately been an “e” whore. i am a broke ass so i only put $10 in when i know i cant make it where im headed, and ride “e” for like 3 days just scootin around WS with the g/f and such

my car tells me when im running out.

i usually go to where it says LOW, then i put gas in

lol I am the same way :D… it’s not even that I’m broke or anything… just lazy I guess :stuck_out_tongue:

ran out of gas more times than I care to count, with the most recent being the mustang. Wouldnt ya know it… ran out RIGHT IN FRONT OF TOPS ON TWIN CITY HIGHWAY. I was pissed lol

only had like 15.00 to my name… so I walked into gander mnt… buy a gas can for like 8.00, put 3 dollars into that to get the car started, and then threw the rest into the car… I wasnt happy (it WAS my fault though lol)

hahaha yeah exactly … that’s basically what I’m going to do next time the car hits E. I’m only putting $20 in the tank today, so sometime this weekend or early next week I’ll be driving her til she dies

oh… and it should be mentioned that doing this can damage/overheat the fuel pump/clog the filter

Cavilier… I drive on E or less than 1/8 tank all the time.

The Firebird on the other hand; it gets below 1/4 tank it’s time to find a gas station because I don’t have much milage left; E means FUMES on that car.

my ex-gf’s mom used to go make a trip to the gas station for gas. then come home. WTF?

i dont think ANY cat that i have ever owned has ever had a full tank of gas lol

If you have your car manual, read it. I have a 2.4 gallon reserve. Sometimes when I’m on the road I’ll reset a trip clock to zero when the gas light comes on and make sure I don’t drive over 20 miles before I get gas.

i definatley ran my car out of gas this weekend  it was just for a nice fill up

iam the same way

I was going to state this fact as well. It is a recommendation by auto makers that you should not let the tank on newer high-pressure fuel pump cars go below 1/4 tank, as the pump gets a lot hotter than older vehicles with standard pumps.

I was a victim of the “E” overheating on my fuel pump. Lets just say that wasnt fun. OOPS!

Cavalier, I drive till the thing starts to gasp for fuel cause i could care less about that car , the Mustang, I really never like it to get below 1/4 of a tank, cause i ran it outta gas once down the street from my house and had to push it back to my house then back UP the driveway to get the other car out since there’s nowhere to park in the street, change the fuel filter, and finally go get gas for it and drive it to the gas station to fill it up. … Yeah, learned my lesson
