Does APD have an undercover F150?

On my way to work this morning I pulled up behind a new F150 painted that dark Amherst PD blue color and under the F150 badge on the tailgate it had a “police interceptor” badge. At first I just figured it was some tool who stuck it on there like the idiots that put Cobra badges on V6 Mustangs, but later that morning I started to wonder if it was legit.

  1. It was on N.Forest heading toward APD.
  2. It was Amherst colors.

I didn’t think to look at the plate to see if it was a government plate or not.

Yes.

They also have unmarked Grand Cherokees & Tahoes now.

If you don’t spot the spotlights, its hard to tell. They are using the low profile LED lights in the grill & at the top of the windshield (inside).

^ Yikes. Other than the tiny police intercepter badge this thing looked like just any other F150 from the back. I couldn’t get in front of him to look for hidden lights in the grill/windshield.

the funny thing is, you dont HAVE to stop for an unmarked car… as long as you obey traffic laws etc. you can continue on your way until a marked car shows up… while this will likely piss off the officer and garuntee a ticket for something, you wont get a ticket for evading…

cops cops cops!

that shit was orchestrated!

Anyways, hopefully V1 will pick them up. Otherwise… bleh.

big brother is watching you.

try that, then make a thread about how funny of a thing it is.

False.

The only department not allowed to use undercover police cars for traffic is the state police. It was one of the first executive orders Pataki signed when he became governor. So if you try to just keep driving when an undercover APD car is flashing his lights at you, which is perfectly within his right to do, it’s evading.

But go ahead and try it. I wouldn’t minding picking up an M3 as a track car from the police auction nice and cheap.

Not quite…

That applies on Thruways/interstates…and its been a while since I have seen the actual law, but I believe it only applies to State agencies…

the sherrifs got a jeep, I see it in town of niagara daily

The order will affect only roads patrolled by the state police, which include the New York State Thruway and other interstate highways, as well as many state roads. But it does not affect local and county police departments, which typically enforce traffic laws on smaller local roads.

I had an undercover/unmarked somebody (typical caprice) try pulling me over some time ago when i passed him on the thruway. He had his sirens going, but no lights and the guy inside was just wearing street clothes.

He was yelling at me to pull over. I just smiled at him, went the speed limit, and called the state police. I told the state police that i think somebody was abusing a police car they picked up at an auction or something and that i am not going to pull over for them. The state police ran the plate number and said it infact was a government car. At that moment, the car just sped off and continued on his way.

cliff notes: Very Weird.

:ohnoes: You’re lucky to still have both of your kidneys!

Just to add some more info, Hamburg now has some new cruisers. Hamburg has always had all white cars but now has a few cars that blue front and back and white middle. Just an FYI

yup^^^ the black and white ones look rather menacing :ohnoes:

they also have a rustang

almost sped past one a few days ago thinking he was a cop from another jurisdiction or something

Undercover with police interceptor badges on it?
Interesting concept.:stuck_out_tongue:

Ya they do look mean. That stang is a lousy v-6 that they acquired in a drug bust 2 or 3 years ago.

If they flag you down, you have to stop. You can call 911 tho and tell them to send a marked car or ask them the verify the car behind you is infact an officer before complying with the officer. I suggest you be nice about if it you do try this tho because you are likely to piss one off and just asking for more problems.

I believe the law states that a unmarked car cannot pull you over on the throughway AFTER DARK.
