Why? Mustang’s with stock wheelwells have been running in the 8’s for a few years now in the 1/4.

As far as the Camaro goes, I’d say just update any maintenance it needs and once you have a set goal for the car gather the parts up and then build it. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time with the 305 as far as a rebuild however.

The only thing GM 305’s are good for is keeping the car running while you save for a motor swap. That being said, can’t you get a decent 350 for pretty cheap?

Get a 350,383, 400, 406, or whatever. Get a TH350 or have the 700R4 rebuilt. Replace the brakes (maybe replace with bigger aftermarket units) install new bushings throughout, upgrade suspension components, replace struts, Pretty simple list.

Rear end is a weak link too.

Look in a junkyard/craigslist/forums for a decent 350 or larger small block with low miles.

How fast do you want to go?

reeeeeal fast.

i was talking about the “buy his notch” part :stuck_out_tongue:

ok, first off, considering your a total noob, lets start by asking what kind of experience you have, what kind of facilities you have access to, and what you can even get done or how much money you have before we start suggesting goals.

save up and get a 350 crate from GM, like 2500 bucks basically turn key

305’s are great. They just don’t make hp above about 3500 rpm. So for station wagon good, for camaro not so good.

So that said put a 350 or 383 in. I don’t have much love for the bigger bore engines (377, 400, 406). 350 or 383 is your best option for the money. Upgrade the trans as mentioned.

383 for the win!
