305’s are great. They just don’t make hp above about 3500 rpm. So for station wagon good, for camaro not so good.
So that said put a 350 or 383 in. I don’t have much love for the bigger bore engines (377, 400, 406). 350 or 383 is your best option for the money. Upgrade the trans as mentioned.
