Drones

Drone fails was my favorite this year after Christmas with people getting a drone and destroying it.

I have a couple “drones” a blade 180qx and a blade 200qx(can do inverted flight)

both have a camera on them that is a crappy 720p, either way they are fun

i’m more into heli’s than the quads though, I enjoy 3D flight better than filming with a quad

i am in the process of doing some research and looking into building one of these though, real life pod racing!

^^^

How fast is the 200 QX?

The e-flite copters are quality. I got an entry level on, and its stilll kicking to this day. I should upgrade though, as I never use mine anymore.

It’d be fun to get one that can do inverted flight.

200QX has a ton of power, easily 100% more than the 180qx

its a big learning curve, took me almost two months of solid flying to get it right. with another year or so before that on the simulator flying CP heli’s(inverted flight i mean)

My dads got that real-flight sim back home. I dont spend much time on there, but i’ve got the heli’s down. I’ve spent so much time on that begginer on, i’m sure it’ll be a bit to learn. I’m game to give it a try soon. I’ll have to go scoop one up.

do you usually fly CP heli’s on the sim?

i’d give advice but i’m not sure what you have flown/are flying now and how much experience

if you haven’t flown a flybarless fixed pitch heli, get one of those first, the msrx is a great micro to learn on that will hold up to crashes over and over. if you are comfortable with a flybarless heli, then go with a nano cpx to learn CP on. a good radio helps to, i’m currently runnin a DX6

the progression is usually:
coaxial -> FP flybar -> FP flybarless -> CP flybar -> cp flybarless skipping any of those and you’ll have a high learning curve to deal with

if you have experience and think you can fly a CP heli right now, come to R and l hobbies on sundays, we fly from noon until at least 4, there’s always something there you can test fly(demo’s) and usually everyone is pretty cool about letting others try their birds as long as you seem like you know what you are doing, as far as mine, the only one semi-tame is the nanocpx, the others would be one hell of a handful for anyone that has never flown a high powered heli

any interest in selling the 200 qx?

negative, sorry, i’ve only had it a couple weeks now, I could possibly part with the 180qx though

little off-topic, but flipping my nano cpx around in the house today

That’s it I have to get my nano fixed. I’m not that good but getting there. Need to send the boards in for repair :(.

i hear that, i have two nano’s, one has a bad board i’m just waiting to send out for repair

im out in CA… sorry dude. I’m not super wrapped up in this stuff, but I find it fascinating. Maybe I can carve out some more time for it down the road. I kick ass with the heli’s on my dads sim when I am home and drunk… if that counts!

i’m just reliving my childhood, its a blast haha. except for back then i couldn’t afford good RC vehicles, they were all crap, now i have a collection that any kid would die for lol

I want to buy this bad boy: http://www.helipal.com/storm-racing-drone-rtf-type-a.html

FPV looks crazy fun especially in NYC lol

My only concern is I’ll lose it somehow…there’s no GPS call home feature or anything which is kinda scary

police would probably try to shoot it out of the sky. looks fun as shit though.

this one has a set of upgraded antenna, crazy high, looks fun as hell.

wow thats cheap. I would want gps and a gimbal though

GPS call home isn’t going to work in the city anyway. All it does is return to a specific GPS point, in a straight line. It has no idea about obstacles in the way.
