drunk lady "parks" in my backyard

Long story…Cliff Notes? Drunk lady “parked” in my backyard - no punishment what-so-ever because she wrecked on private property.

- 24/7 drunk lady is staying with her friend who rents the house
next door. This lady is a disaster.

-Our driveway is shared with 3 houses. It splits at the end and there are three BIG parking-lot type areas behind each house- 2 lots to the left, one lot to the right - PLENTY of room to park and maneuver cars and what not.

-While watching TV last night, I hear some noise outside, thinking maybe one of the neighbors accidentally bumped into my fiancé’s car while rounding the corner into their lot because his car was sticking out a little bit. No big deal.

- I look out the window and there’s a car in the backyard. The drunk lady from the house next door somehow managed to pull down the driveway - and instead of simply turning right into her parking lot area, she put the car in reverse, pulled back behind our house, went down a 6 foot embankment and down into the backyard.

 • Fiancé and I run outside where he immediately starts screaming at her. She eventually turns the car off, stumbles out and up the hill and says, “I was just parking my car! Good Grief!” and stumbles into her house like nothing happened.

 • Cops show up. Fire trucks. Ambulance etc etc. The clincher? The cops can’t do anything because she wrecked her car on private property!???! She even came outside at one point and asked where her car was because it wasn’t in her usual parking spot. She had NO clue what was going on and what all the fuss was about. She was quite obviously wrecked out of her mind.

But because nobody actually saw her driving down the street while intoxicated, she got off scott-free, AND got her car keys back after they pulled her (surprisingly intact) car out of my backyard.

So she pretty much could have plowed through the front of my house and walked away because it was on private property?!!

See the pine trees to the left of this picture? THAT’S where she was supposed to park…to the left of the tow truck…but she ended up down the hill behind my house…http://img171.imageshack.us/img171/9251/dsc00792ua2.jpg

There should be some way to have her Fined.

She didn’t cause any damage to our property…somehow she missed our house…and our car…I just can’t believe how freaking drunk she was and the cops couldn’t/didn’t do shit. And she got her car and car keys back.

that blows.

It’s essentially the same think as drunken golf carting on private property if she never hit public roads.

Is she renting? Can you contact her landlord?

But she pulled into the driveway FROM the road. It’s just dumb.

I asked the one cop, “So since her car is on my private property, technically I could go take a sledghammer to it right now and you guys can’t do anything about it?” He said, “No. I wouldn’t be able to let you get away with that.”

Makes tons of sense.:banghead:

is there tire tracks in ur grass? u can sue for property damage if there are ruts

or maybe damage to the tree she backed into…replacing a damaged tree can be expensive

If it is your property (you own it), and there is damage to it, say you want to press charges for distruction of private property… it can make her life a pain

rent post hole digger
drill hole in the parking lot
drop in 6 feet of chain, leaving 4 feet hanging out
fill with concrete

after it hardens, chain her car down in her parking spot

<3 u
