Remember that the computer has control of everything now with DSG. I doubt there is any torque coming from the engine during up shifts. It will close the TB, pull timing, and probably throw a trouble code if the clutch did slip. And all this happens much faster than you could hid the paddle to begin with. Which makes me wonder… If it could be programed to be even faster and more consistent in auto.

yes, they already do this

plus the auto learns the driving habits of the driver and will adjust accordingly. if your 80 and barely on the gas then the shifts will be slow and long for smoothness. If you race from stop light to stop light the transmission will make short, fast shifts
