LOL, you should give that font an official title
Actually a future plan for me is opening a Tim Hortons.
See if they’d fly you out for an interview - check out the digs and see if you can deal with it.
do it, and ill drive the m3 for the 5 years your gone, shit ill even come pick it up from you
I would say do it for sure, experience something different in life other people don’t get the chance too. Although I will agree, don’t piss anyone off there lol.
in a heartbeat
negotiate and get more info.
i would have to start at $250k with a signing bonus (at least 5 figures). I would want to know what the pay scale is (what i make in year 2, 3, 4 etc.) and what the promotion scale looks like.
I’d want to meet the people i’d be working with and visit where i would be living… they would have to either provide a revolving lease on an exotic sports car or allow me access to one or provide me with at least a Porsche 911.

I’ve known some people who have done this type of stuff. Worked as an auditor for a major bank in Saudi Arabia for 17 years. They flew him back to see his family in the philipines for a couple months a year. My best friend has an aunt and uncle that are physicians in the middle east and make retarded amounts of money.
Even though you may be based there i would wan the opportunity to travel for business and be in a B2B role, not a labourer or a desk jockey. If you’re managing projects and have educated, westernized staff that would be a major plus.
As much as i am not convinced that Dubai and Saudi Arabia can really sustain their growth expectations i do think that the experience you can have there has a massive upside and very little downside.
It’s like working in a smaller company here… you will have the opportunity to do things you cant do in a bigger company with a more mature structure, but lots more money and lots less taxes.
Also, if you’re a douche here you can start anew there and play the Mr. America role. You’ll have recently liberated choco-taco for breakfast every day of the week. They can’t keep their legs closed for white guys, even if you cant get a decent lay here.
You need to investigate more.

Dubai use U.S. dollars? $65k for a year lease on a 1 bedroom??
lol one of those has “Ski Lift: 5 kilometer” listed. Do they have indoor ski places there or something?
i’d be replying to this thread from here
Money would have to be very lucrative, and i would also have to visit before i signed anything for the next 1/2 decade! But definitely give it some thought
I would think getting recruited to Dubai for engineering projects would wow ppl from the states who’ve never left the country. I can’t see how it would do anything but strengthen your resume. U can tout the good old “experienced with working with people from different socio-economic backgrounds” line all day haha
Yep I just saw their one indoor ski resort on tv a few days ago. It was bad ass.
There are a lot of factors that are weighing in on me, I was looking if someone had a reason that they wouldn’t that stuck with me. I am afraid that I am just being blinded by the money, the nice thing is that there is a 6 week leave period to come home, but at that same time me staying with my parents for 6 weeks would probably cause me to kill myself. I talk to the company again on tuesday, trying to get them to fly me out there for an interview.
We will see… I am leaning towards yes right now. First and foremost for the experience and to put that alone on my resume would be a great stepping stone.
and 1AED ~= to $0.27 USD.
I also need to look at the whole US tax ramifications, if there would be any.
:ohnoes:
Meh, there are better debtors prisons, architecurally, but that is pretty bad ass. I want to visit Dubai someday.
Right. Put people who owe money in prison where they can’t make any money. Fucking goat herders get stupid rich but they’re still doin it wrong!
FYI move to another state for a while if you go. You will still have to pay NYS even though you are in another country. FL, NV, etc. where there are no state income taxes. Do it, my uncle did it and had a blast.
Akuma
As soon as you quit your job in Dubai, your employer has to inform your bank. If you have any outstanding debts that aren’t covered by your savings, then all your accounts are frozen, and you are forbidden to leave the country.
