Got a friend movin back to NY, had a DWAI in NY - Jan 06. I guess it didnt show up in his record out of NY. How long does it stay on your record?
It’s only a felony if it’s your second offense.
so this is his first and only one. He should be ok with insurance or will this affect insurance?
DWAI isnt a felony, its treated like a traffic violation after suspension
Jan of 06 it should definitely still be on his record when he goes to get insurance. It stays at least as long as a moving violation which is 3 years.
For insurance Co and employment purposes it’s on there for 3 years. To law enforcement its perm. Theres 2 diff records availible from DMV. One that an ins. co. or employer can request, and one for law enforcement use. I got a dwai in 1988 its still on there. And no he wont be ok for insurance- he’s screwed
and most car rental places won’t let him rent a car for x amount of years.
