It’s virtually stock, only has a K&N panel filter, 710N diverter valves and a boost gauge. Too scared to chip it (supposed to add 60bhp/110tq) until I have some savings in case the turbos give up the ghost.

awesome, did a lot of Audi’s show? I was at the audizine/ E90 forums makeshift meet in the yorkdale parking lot a few weeks ago and seemed like a good amount would be making it out to the dyno day…
Ahhh come out to the next meet! I could not believe how many people showed up considering the rain, there were like 10-15 audi’s and I’d say 6-7 e90’s and 1 e46, it was interesting. I’m suprised you were the only S4, there was one guy who said he had a B5 S4 who said he was going, guess they ended up not going, a bunch of guys said they would go if their cars were ready… guess that was bust too haha… How many km’s is your motor at now? Are you saving in hopes of new turbo’s or just in case lol? I was talking to one guy with an s4 who said it took Months from the time he noticed his turbo’s starting to go, and the time they actually did! Are you thinking stock or upgrading?
On a side note, the chips are amazing, I have a friend running a 1+ GIAC on a B6 A4 and it was a easy 50+hp and after 1.5 years of running that on a fairly stock motor, still no issues.
Yeah chipping is no joke, you’re upping the boost on a V6 twin-turbo engine from 9 PSI to 16-18, so it supposedly makes a huge difference, imaginably.
Because changing turbos out the right way (adding K04’s, fueling, clutch - stage 3/450+hp) i’m gonna leave it stock until I have all debts paid off and some half decent savings. Then the modding can begin. Don’t want the turbos going early if I can avoid it.
Thanks man, I was quite happy with the results…outdid the KA-T and it’s stock haha! Of course…I did gain about 600lbs lol!
Probably because 90% of S4’s are chipped virtually the day they are bought by an enthusiast… Then the #'s go way up. My numbers are very healthy for stock actually.
Actually it’s been very reliable. Not always the case with these and you never know, but yeah for me it’s been a total joy so far. Nothing has actually failed on the car (except a $48 turn signal relay part, fixed it myself).
With that said, the last owner neglected some bigger maintenance items so I spent a good chunk of change getting all new fluids, 2 sets of tires, timing belt/water pump as preventitive maintenance, and also replaced 2 control arms and an EGT sensor.
But I got a decent deal on it at the time, and it was the more rare black w/ 6-speed & tints.
I guess the only thing with the S4 is that if stuff DOES go wrong, potentially it can get rather expensive real fast (both turbos need replacing at same time requiring engine pull, slightly pricier parts etc).
Can’t just “throw an SR in it” or grab a $300 KA block haha.
