E85 99 Eclipse GSX

I’ve had alot of people interested in this set up and I finally found time to get it posted.

The car is now tuned on E85. It is running our STM Tank to Rail, and [STM FPR Return Kit with the ProClassic Hose. I’ve got a little over 1000 miles on this set up. It’s got the Forced Performance Race Manifold and an Evo III 16G.

As you can see, there is no intercooler, no side mount- Nothing!

Emery at STM set it up with an AEM Water Injection Kit and we started off spraying meth, but then switched to water.

We added a Koyo radiator and FAL Fan to help keep it cooler.

And the Road Surge Auto Shift Kit is absolutely necessary! Without it, full throttle, the car will just pap off the rev limiter- it doesn’t shift fast enough without it. but WITH it… it’s INSTANT! It’s a little rough, but it’s not hurting anything. I love it!

Emery has it tuned on DSM Link V2 and I see about 26-23 psi as it falls down. The turbo is just a little guy, so I don’t expect too much more.

After all was said and done, we saw 100 more awhp over the previous set up (which was basically only a cat-back and Hallman) and the car runs and drives BEAUTIFULLY!

I couldn’t be happier and it’s only $20 to fill the tank. I’ve been watching the coolant temps and intake temps and they are all normal, the intake temps are about ambient. He made a carbonfiber shield/air duct right above the STM Transmission Oil Cooler to split the air so the air filter does not get all the hot air off the cooler and help direct it to the engine compartment.

Emery is still thinking of possibly spraying Nitrous to get the intake temps WAY down and help on the launch, but the car drives amazing! I honestly don’t want a monster for a car. I like to DRIVE it. So we’ll see what we do. But for now… Here she is:

We wanted to try something a little different and I think Emery would still like to toy with it, but from a “customer’s” standpoint: I LOVE this car!

Oh, and here’s a video of the car on the dyno.

Any questions, just ask!

wheres the bov/recirc valve?

Where are you getting the E85 from? I didnt know it was available in this area

there’s an E85 pump about 2 miles from their new location… it’s around.

I want to go E85 too. Just waiting on it to become more available in the WNY area. There’s only like one station with it that I’ve heard of and I don’t want to change setups only to find out that they stopped carrying it or some BS.

Looks good though!!

expected times?

whats the whp?

numbers ?

Yes numbers please? E85 intrigues me but we have zero support for it down this way… hopefully it will make it’s way down this way in the next year or so and I wouldn’t mind giving it a try as well.

i just noticed that…any way for the boost not to get back to the turbo when the throttle body closes?

In the Buffalo area you can get E85 at the Wilson Farms at 1060 Niagara Falls Blvd.

I know but if they stop selling it, I’m SCREWED!

Maybe if someone else starts selling it, I’ll make the switch. Little insurance just in case!!

I think it might be on the underside of the upper IC pipe.

Why no intercooler?

A lot of the S4 guys that run E85 tunes also have a 93 program on the ECU that they can switch to if just a situation happens. Just something to think about.

Well, I guess I could just lug my laptop around with the two different tunes but that’s such a pain in the ass.

Especially since changing to E85 does require some re-plumbing of the fuel system.

I think I’d rather just wait and see what happens with the availability aspect.

Whats the gas station that offers E85 in hen?

Fast Trac, on the corner of West Henrietta Road and Calkins.

Mobil at the corner of east henrietta and jefferson does as well.

The car saw 250 tq and 250 hp. It’s a little faster on the highway than a lightly modded STi and he just ran a 13.0, so if I saw a 12.9 I’d be happy.

The car could be faster, we could push it more tuning-wise, take out the subwoofer, spare tire, leather all that crap, but honestly, I just don’t care to.

250 on a mustang dyno through an auto/stock motor/130k+ car that I drive every single day is more than enough for a fun, reliable, daily driver.

And I’m happy. It’s good to know I have the fuel/tuning software ready to go, so if I needed to go “faster” all she needs is a 50 trim.

That’s great power for no IC and through an auto
