eastern catalytic?

ran across this tread the other day and found the read interesting… anyone use their products?
http://bearrivercats.proboards.com/thread/3?page=1 this is what i read…
and this is the company http://www.easterncatalytic.com/products/high-performance/bullet-cat/

A convertor forum! Lol

This kind of stuff is nothing new :sleep

i never really looked into and believed that a high flow magnaflow cat would be a high flow performance cat. as it was advertised

illegal in nys now.

Sale, and installation of aftermarket cats are not allowed in NYS anymore. Highflow cats like that will fail inspection. Chineese knock off “oem replacment” cats also fail.

Like anybody really checks the brand of cats youre using on a car.

from a repair shop standpoint you dont want to be caught doing it. its $500 fine for the first offense, and up to $26,000 fine for each subsequent violation!

i poked through that article, and i got a different letter from DMV a while back to the shop… I could have sworn it said stuff about inspections too, but that link above doesnt so I may have been incorrect about the failing inspection stuff a few posts up… I dont know and dont do inspections/repairs anymore anyway so I dont care to look right now.

I think cops have better things to do that crawl under cars and see if the converters are OEM or not or if they’re even there and then figure out who last inspected the car to charge them so really how would this BS be enforced?

I had a car without any cats and never had an issue with getting an inspection sticker and never got harassed by a cop about the lack of cats or how loud the exhaust was.

It’s not just from a repair shop standpoint “any person to sell, offer for sale, advertise, or install any new aftermarket catalytic converter” that means that individuals can’t do it either (any person is also in the “used” section too). And that doesn’t say anything about inspections, but it could be somewhere else I just read what you linked, so the fines aren’t for inspections (unless it’s somewhere else and says the same…this isn’t legal advice so go fuck urself if you read this and do something dumb lol).

Kind of easy to figure out is a shop is selling them or advertising them, installing them not as easy unless you go there while they are doing it.

Not completely true, new cats can be sold but have to have CARB certification with a plate on the body of them, among other things. How many aftermarket units are available like this? Who knows, probably very few.

If we change a cat on a car it has to meet Cali emissions standards . Parts places will not sell one that isn’t anymore either .

You can probably still buy one in VT

that would depend on vt law…

VT is pretty lenient with car related stuff.

everyone is lenient when you compare to cali and ny, but that has nothing to do with this lol.
