"Ebay" Parts

Whats the consensus on “eBay” parts? More particularly, rotors and and brake pads? I’m already buying some parts for the Z, so I’m just gonna get the brakes out of the way right now as well. I priced rotors and pads from some of the 300zx vendors and from eBay as well. The eBay parts are about half the price, although they’re obviously not a major brand name. I’m just concerned about quality and I’m wondering if anyone has tried the “generic” rotors from eBay. I don’t want them to warp easily, but then again I’m selling the Z so I’m not really looking to spend $500+ on a brake kit.

Heres a link to the kit I’m looking at

I wouldn’t buy anything brake related from an ebay vendor. Just get OEM replacement parts from napa or something.

I’m gonna head to NAPA and Armory Nissan to check out some prices then.

Ive got no name drilled and slotted rotors and Bosch pads on the Mustang. I got them on ebay and havent had any braking issues.

I have never had a problem with brake products from ebay. Actually I have been happy with the performance of the products I have purchased their. However, please do not buy D/S rotors.

Drilled rotors actually hinder performance. Slotted is the only way to go other than OEM.

Yeah… drilled rotors crack no matter what.

ive got an ebay clutch and ebay strut bars and theyre fine

The only things I would not buy as EBay knockoffs are turbos/superchargers, BOVs, wastegates, tuning electronics…things of that nature.

Everything else I’ve bought, I’ve never had an issue with (ball joints, brakes, camber kits, universal piping, etc).

Really? I read that drilled are better for street use, while slotted are best left for for track use. Something about the slots on the rotors eating profusely away at the brakes when they’re used for daily driving. I’ll see if I can find the site where I read that.

yes and no. depends on if they were engineered that way, or in the case of most people, bought from a 3rd party company. Brembo and stoptech rotors are designed to work. hence why ferrari, porsche, lamborghini, etc use brembo rotors that are crossdrilled, and they do so with great sucess. more most street applications your common brembo blank, or OEM rotor will work just fine and provide optimal performance. when it comes time for new rotors for me, its oem blanks with a quality pad.

i always say if you cant afford to do it right, dont do it at all… i would NEVER cheap out on brakes

I just put good shit on my daily driver. I didnt want cheap brakes on something I drive 20k a year.

Yeah I would not skimp on the brake components. Ebay air intakes, exhausts, and strut bars are one thing but brakes are something that could kill you.

hey an eBay exhaust could kill you too, when it falls off someones car and comes flying at you and impales you

An exhaust put on by Pete’s could do the same thing though.

for shame. luckily i dont have parts from either vendor.

i know youre the ebay master, i know… its ok.

Yeah his car should be sponsored by ebay. ;D

lmao put an ebay windshield banner on your car joey. i think you’re a little low in the sticker department ::slight_smile: :lol
