EGR- Can I Plug it?? Help ASAP PLZ

Okay so after a really really fun day trying to install my POS pacesetter header me and my friend managed to…uh…bastardize the EGR tube which is now leaking. The header is on and all the welds to the rest of the exuaust seem time. I dont want to have to try and finaggle the new
EGR tube in place cause it will be difficult and as of now i have a wicked sounding leak out of that pipe. Can someone tell me that i can plug it off without any serious problems?? I saw someone else said it can be removed…so…anyone?

I need this info ASAP please!

as well do not use dupli-color ceramic header paint on a header. It peeled off and flaked away within 45 seconds of idling. Im still high from the smell and wasted $20 on this junk

thanks

Pritch

Plugging the EGR (from my DSM experience) will not affect anything other than emmisions.
You may get a check engine light though but in terms of operation you should not have any problems.

plug it

some people have thiers plugged :stuck_out_tongue:

from my knowledge of egr valves, i wouldnt recomend plugging it!
The egr valve allows the exhaust gases to recirculate out of the crankcase. There’s really no point to plug it because you will only make it harder on the engine and your not gaining anything.

No opinions from me about if you should plug it or not.

That said, you can just crank a small wood screw into it, just make sure it is a good size, not small enough to fall out, but not too big that it will split the hose.

Good luck man.

The egr does not allows the exhaust gases to recirculate out of the crankcase. That would be the PCV (posative crank case ventilation)
The EGR recirculates gas back into the intake useing up area in the cumbustion chamber with gases that have aready been burned and can not burn again. This lowers the charge temp and burns up more emisions aposed to letting them vent to the atmosphere via the exhaust. You can plug it if you want or you can pull the plug to the EGR selinoid or you can pull the vacuum line to it and plug that. The choice is yours…some people will say it help performance to have it not worknig some say the opposit

thanks for clearing that up, i was a little confused about the egr and pcv.
