EGR System Failure?!

My engine threw a code last night on the way home…got home and compared it to the list on neons.org…code 32 Egr Sys failure…does anyone know of a way to clean it up and get the carbon deposits off and what not before my gas mileage plummets any further? I looked at oem replacements and they are a bit pricey for someone who is on a locked budget

I used to have a major problem with my 94 Bravada with this. They were really notorious for throwing a code 32 and having to replace that EGR valve. The best thing that I saw that people came up with was a wire mesh guard that goes over the EGR inlet. Basically it allows all the gas and everything to pass through, but keeps the carbon from clogging the sensor itself. IT would be something to look into.

on my S10 they made a limiter that screwed on the end of the EGR line going into the intake manifold, it helps reduce the amount that comes back in…kept mine alot cleaner when i did this
