Electrical problem..

Well this has been going on for quite sometime now…
Ive replaced the starter, and the alternator is running between
13.8 - 14.4 Volts. So that means they’re ok obviously.
Im not familiar with the IC regulator, all i heard was it could
be the problem and that it is located in one of the fenders…
here is my problem:
when starting the car, hot or cold, if i turn on my running/dash lights
immeadiately after starting the car, they seem reallllly dim.
my headlights, and all interior lights are the same, damn dim.
it idles ok, but the lights wont go brighter until i give it approx.
3000rpm, then its almost like a “click” and the lights all go bright
and remain bright…and another thing i’ve noticed is randomly
maybe every week or so if im on the highway with my lights on,
sometimes they all (dash, headlights, etc…) go extremellyyyyyy
bright and dont dim back down to normal until i slow down on the
off ramp…

its’ quite stupid and frustrating :x
… if you can help me out
thanks in advance 8)

Grounds? also make sure your battery terminals are perfectly clean.

Yesterday my 240 wasnt cranking over, all I got was a “tick tick” sound, and after trying to crank the car over nothing would work, yet the battery displayed 12.X volts, if I reset the battery, everything would work, till I tried to crank it. turns out it was a bad ground.

If I were you i’d redo all my groun wires and add a bit more, make sure the wires coming off your alternator are clean and free of rust.

I’d second the grounds. Look for them scattered around your engine bay, take them out and file/sand/clean the connections.

ill do it up…thanks guys, and ill keep you posted
