Engine shut off on the highway...

Well, I was coming home on the 401 today, cruising at 120km, when all of a sudden, my car just shut off. Couldn’t accelerate, my temp gauge wasn’t registering and my car was still in drive. Engine was completely shut down.

My first reaction was, oh geez, I’ve got to pull over to the side right away. But 2 seconds later, everything came back on again - my air bag dash light was on for a few seconds, ABS light as well and I was able to continue driving like normal.

After a few minutes, I got off the highway and all my dash lights turned off. My car was running fine after that. Any ideas on what the probelm was? Want to get this fixed asap so it doesn’t happen again on the highway.

Thanks for any input. It’s a 1998 240 SX SE auto with 144,000 kms.

well, it sounds electricle. could be ur battery or alternator?

this happened to my friend too. but it was a r32 gtr
anyways, his problem was a f’ed up fuel pump. maybe check that?
sounds like electrical though

Fuel pump, some guy had a very similar problem.

its not the fuel pump, when your driving that kinda speeds in a “cruising” situation just driving, your fuel pump isnt even working that hard, its most likely electrical.
