Can I practice on your car?
I painted my 97 neon with a roller and rustoleum white. came out BOMB, if I did it again i’d just spray the rustoleum through my hvlp gun cause it took way longer than expected to get enough coats of paint on there to hide the roller marks and be able to wetsand and buff to a shiney paintjob.
The car is getting sprayed correctly, base coat clear coat with a nice gun. I’m not going to spend all of this time on prep work to have it come out “OK”
I wish the radiator support bolted in to make engine swaps that much easier haha.
Haha, well if I really wanted too I could just bolt the radiator support on. It would problably make alot of “rattling” noise but it would work alright. I guess if you had a race car that needed to be rebuilt every so often, it might be worth doing.

you know, when i bought my civic shell the rad support was pretty rusted out. i pulled the whole front end off, just to finish shit and replace the rad support. i’ll just pull one at m&m i said to myself, no big deal
my jetta rad support was bolted on. wtf! i was pissed. i essentially pulled off my whole front end for nothing, and had to put it all back together (actually, gary might have done that :))
To be honest, I dont know who is going to spray it. I have a few friends that have some experience doing it. Im not really worried about getting my car sprayed before winter. As long as it gets sprayed by april I should be fine. There is still a bunch of work that needs to be done before I’m getting it sprayed anyways.

I have a couple updates, the pictures are small and I dont know why but you will get the point.
I have been helping my friend out on putting his car back together after he painted it. I think this is the person thats going to be painting my car so I will share a couple pictures of how his car came out.
I decided to undercoat some of my car to get away from sanding for a couple days, I only bought enough to do from where the gas tank mounts to the back. It came out pretty good I think.
And I found a couple pictures of my LCA’s that I bought a while ago and a picture of my D2 Coilovers that were on the car.

Jay came over and removed my glass for me yesterday, I also undercoated the front two wheel wells. The rest of the underside will be undercoated soon and then I can start putting the rear trailing arms back on. I need to replace the trailing arm bushings and remove/paint what I want to refinish before it starts going back on.
Your ridiculous man. I wish I had half as much motivation as you do. Car’s gonna be gorgeous though, and so is Nicks. You two kinda inspired me to keep my rex and start wrenching on it.

Haha I dont have as much motivation as you think, I would rather be driving the car. But when I do things I can’t stand if they are not done the right way.
He is pretty good, as we were removing the windshield we noticed that the glass was separating and the vinyl strip going through the middle was starting to show, so we decided that I was going to replace the windshield anyways. We put a little line crack on the bottom corner of the window. I could reuse it but I’m not going to.
I have made some progress. The rest of the car is done being undercoated. I’ve been taking apart my trailing arms and have been taking alot of the suspension pieces and brake stuff to school. I sandblasted most of them and painted them black. I still have to get rear camber kits, new trailing arm bushings, and finish blasting and painting the rest of the components for the rear brakes and suspension before my trailing arms can go back on.
My plans before it gets too cold out is to get the whole car in primer as well as get the engine bay and interior in color so during the winter I can put the motor back in, do a brake line tuck, redo my fuel lines along with putting a new gas tank in, and get the interior back in… well not all of it back in because not all of it is going back in. Then all I have to do in the spring is spray the outside of the car and put the windows and trim back on.
I’m getting sick of sanding the inside of the car, there is too much prep work. I dont know how profesional painters have the patience for that. I can’t wait until the car is in color.
