Evo vs WRX

Last Friday at BeaveRun (open day) there was a kid running around in a nice black EVO. It was wet for most of the runs so our AWD was nice to have. Nevertheless, he did go off in turn 8 after running too hot into the corner. Even AWD has its limits. Luckily he was ok but the front bumper suffered some damage. He was able to run the rest of the day including the fourth session where it began to rain cats and dogs. Only he and I were able to remain on the track due to the very wet conditions. They flagged the session five minutes early however we still managed to have a blast. It by far was one of my favorite sessions at BR. :slight_smile:

How in the heck did he go off in T8?..that’s flat-out for any car…a lot of people go off in T7 and T9 but not T8…

I assume he lost the back end while entering 8… turn in to the left to the T8 apex and the back end came around to the right. Again, it was wet. The first two laps were run under yellow so we could get used to the conditions before they set us free. He was directly in front of me when we “went green” however I had a slight bobble between T3 and T4. He continued on. At the bottom of T7 I saw him (facing me) just leaving the track on the inside near the access road across from T8.

…yeah…he probably lost it in T7…better to lose it in T7 than T9…then you’re really fooked.

…I was on the track with a bunch of Preludes a few years ago…also had one facing me right after the apex in T7…he then swung around and went off track to the right.

I can see him losing it in the rain on Turn 8…If you take turn 7 wrong you’re going pretty fast around turn 8 so a little too harsh of a correction bye bye, but like you said a much better turnto go off rather than turn 9…

Don’t Agree at all!!! Tell the glass wrx 5 speed that when you mod it and skatter 2nd gear all over the track…

For the increase in price compared to a WRX you can’t beat an STi.

Better LSDs front and rear. Active center diff, bulletproof 6 speed, 100 times better brakes with Brembos, way better stock wheels BBS weigh 16lbs, HIDS, lighter as well I think pretty sure. Better stock suspension. Plus I can sale all my stock shit to WRX people. I upgraded my suspension to Flexes and sold my stock struts to wrx guy for $550. Also if I wanted I could sale my stock TMIC for $200-$300. I can also sale my stock wheels for a nice chunk of change…

Can sale my wing to when I get a new one want to buy mine and make your wrx look like an STi noit a fan of the wing but it came with the car

with the money you save from buying a 02 wrx then an 05 STi the wrx would compete and probably surpass the STi…as well be rally legal.

wrx trannys are poop, from what i hear the sti is the only way to go if you acually want to push any power…
i would rather swap a 2.5 imprezza that turn my wrx into an sti

I have to agree with the trannys they do suck. had a new one put in at 18k miles but the new one is still holding strong

yea the tranny’s on the wrx are crap but ill be switching over to a ppg gear set in the next couple of months so then there will be no more worries.
