Update on pic?
If you have an aftermarket plate mounting bracket that tucks the plate just under the tail the camera can’t read it. I wouldn’t suggest it on a long trip but from one to another it’s a possibility 
I got mine on next to the rear view mirror on the pass. side. Seems to always work good.
I know on my dad’s Benz he had special directions on where it had to go.
