i’ve made it to fredonia from west seneca in just over 30 min, which i think is an avg of around 90 mph on many trips and never had a problem with ezpass.
i’m not law student…but dont you have the right to face your accuser (aka the one you sees you speeding) in court?
if they just have a time slot and a distance, nobody actually saw you speeding…so you are being denied your right to face the one who accuses you of the crime?
i remember hearing that beacuse i heard of cameras installed in street lights to catch people running red lights…
i’m probably totally wrong, but it’s worth throwing out there so i can at least learn what the facts of the matter are…
i wouldnet be surprised if NY state developed some kind of timer to check speed…like in nascar…it takes a certain time to get from point A to point B… but they would also have to factor in food and gas stops so it probly wouldnt work…but I could see them doing somethign like that
I have a friend that said he got one. He is an oncologist in NYC, and once of the nicest guys I know, so I couldn’t imagine him lying about it. He says that he takes breaks when he travels on the thruway now, so that it doesn’t happen again.
Also, if the want a moving violation to hold up in court, they have to prove it was you. All you have to do is prove you weren’t driving at that time, and they have to drop it.
the first time i wentto black lake, i did 100 mph all the way down the 90 and i wound up with a nice even time, something like just under 1.5 hours, when the tool booth guy looked at it, and it instantly registered with him
he pointed at the card and said “9 oclock?” i denied it and drove off, lol
he could have easily alerted either of the 2 trooper patrol cars that were sitting right there, but didnt
if he knows the distance from syracuse tolls to the airport, he could easily figure out that i did 100 the whole way (entire trip the speedo was betwen 95 and 110)
Too many ideal conditions have to exist for this to actually work and prosecute this. If you’ve ever used a trip comuter that uses average speed, you’ll see that it is usualy about 10mph lower than what you drove the whole time. Stopping at the tolls for even a minute, and getting up to speed plus you can’t do a certain speed for the whole time (traffic). Add in the fact that they can’t see the driver, but only the vehicle…
