I was trying to get rid of some problems with my car, and from a lesson I had learned before, I was working with the battery OUT, and when putting it back in… I had reversed the terminals. There was a spark, and now the car runs like ASS.
When the battery is reconnected, there is no power to anything in the car whatsoever, the digital clock, the door locks, everything is dead. I can still however start the car. When I start the car, everything works again. But, it starts off by the cluster being dead, then when I drive slowly forward, the cluster comes to life, and my wipers come on. The car also has like NO balls after 3000rpm and is useless under WOT. The ABS warning light in my dash is on, and that’s about it.
The main fues is blown, replace it. Its like the 70-80amp fuse under the hood on the right side. There is 2 fuse able links in the 240. Stop driving the car before is leaves you stranded cause you alt is not charging with that fuse blown. Yah forgot that fuse is labled alt fuse.
same thing with my car… but i bought it like that. still havent diagnose it yet. and yea listen to smurf, cuz the altenator doesnt charge tha batt. anymore, well atleast on my one it doesnt. and i have tha same problems u described.
my car runs perfectly fine tho. cept the stuff goes on randomly above 4000 rpm, and yea… its weird.
Okay, a trip to the dealer (with my mom’s car ofcourse ;)) and $13.50 later my car runs fine again. It was the main fuse, but it was so barely blown that it was still running, Oni-Kyan was right. I was very lucky to show up there at 11:45 (closes at noon) and for the part to be in stock.
You guys are my heroes
Like I said there is 2 fuse able links, You blow that 75amp main, and it will still run, won’t chrage and all you acc stuff will be screwed up. Problem fix with that fuse so walter stfu up. You cannot barlly blow a fuse, it’s either blown or not.
^^^^^^It is possible to partially blow a fuse but rare. One time the radio on a customers car and the dome supervision light wouldnt work…the DVOM would give me 12 volts at the light, but nothing would work…the fuse had power at both ends…i spent like 4 hours trying things. Finally i pulled the fuse looked at it and it was blown but the power was jumping accross. I popped it back in to experiment and pulled out the old light tester and it hardly lite up. Everything still had 12V just very little amperage.
hmm… i was wondering if you guys have a pic of the fuse or the whereabouts of the location of this fuse is… i know you guys said its on the right side, but im still not quite sure how this thing looks. i need to fix mine asap! thnx
There’s two fuse boxes under ur hood. One is on the driver side, one is on the passenger side. The fuse is in the passenger side one. It is the one at the top, clear top, says 75amp on it.
