Anyone ever attempted it?
I’d love to be able to play around with some ideas that I’ve got floating around in my head. Any suggestions/advice?
Cheers

Its not for novices, If your asking about it you probably cant do it. It would be a challenge for even a very expecienced bodyman/fiberglass worker.
A spoiler/lip might be somehwere to start just to get an idea of what you looking at
I’m personaly not looking to create a complete bodykit. I was thinking more allong the lines of some unique overfenders,
What…an over fender with a flare?
There’s only so much you can do with over fenders.
What kind of idea where you thinking of?
just play around with the body lines of the car…try something a little out there… IE: for more of a boxy shape or rounder.
itll be cheaper to just buy some nice over fenders.
read this guys build thread, he made his own full kit and widebody. http://www.sxoc.co.uk/vbb/showthread.php?t=374790
use some foam and shave it down to what you want then fiberglass over it, a couple more steps but you get the idea, its realy not that hard at all
awesome, thanks for the link. I think I might give this a try.
Anyone know where I can get this foam?
home depo.
you can also use clay, then fiber glass the clay, then you have your mold… then go from there…
if you use foam you have to bondo it smooth then paint it sand it super smooth then paint it a few more times then onece it has fully cured you need to wax it and buff it a bunch of times and for a bit easyer time air brush a bunch of coats of mold release lol ok now your ready to start laying up start with a good gell coat let it dry then use some fiberglass cloth and matt make sure you glass in some stiffening suports etc your making the actual mold so it needs to be thick ish and stiff but pace your laying because you dont want the mold to heat up to much or it will try to warp and can crack
once you make your mold now you can make your part

Will all this bondo/paint still allow the foam to hold against the car?
Sounds interesting.
What will you fill the space with when the fenders are complete? (tires, rims, offset, drop)
yes it will because you spray the foam or glue the foam then you shape it with what ever tools work for you THEN you lay a thin layer of bondo the bonto is to smooth the surface out and the paint it to make a smooth glossy surface so none of the gell coat bonds with anything also if the gelcoat or the resin touchs the foam it will start to eat into it and break it down.

came across this on zilvia a while back. this guy made his own custom overfenders. you’ll probly find this interesting, i thought it was freakin’ coolest shit evaaar!!
