Fact or Myth of Honda Sohc vs Dohc Ecu's?????

Ive done some reading but most articals arent very informative. Im doing a mini me swap and everyone says go with the p28 ecu. Now being me i want to always be diffrent and see if theres a better alt. SO MY QUESTION IS: Is B (DOHC) series ecus (ie p72, p61) usable on a D series Motor??? Instead of using the p08, p28, or p30. Some articals point to yes but I have not read any Deff answer…DO WE HAVE ANY HONDA PRO’S OUT THERE THAT CAN ANSWER THIS QUESTION???

? But why. Even if it works (Which i mean it kinda will, but not properly), theres no reason.

I dont see why it wouldnt work if you didnt hook up the 2nd intake wire or knock sensor. who cares if it throws a light on obd1, thats why they make electrial tape:) And some of the DOHC ecus have a higher rev limiter and lower vtec engauge with higher goveners. But im no pro at this so whats why i figured i would ask. just one of those what ifs.

I’d imagine using the wrong ECU for the motor would not be a good idea.

Why not just tune it? Hell, I’m sure I could even raise the rev limiter for you easily and I’ve never even used Honda ECUs.

yes, and no

yes it will plug in and run, but no… it will throw a few CEL’s for knock sensor and bla bla bla

all the d series and b series ecu are more or less the same animals hardware wise. the b series obviously dump more fuel, but have a less advanced timing curve. so if you did use it, it would run like shit.

chip the ecu and tune it with crome or uberdata.

the problem with that is, his ecu (P06 or P05) doesnt have the hardware for vtec, and the fuel and ignition maps for that engine were kinda retatded.
best bet is to pm a guy on here who chips, converts, and tunes these all the time.

^^^ wonder who that could be

word, good stuff.

no clue, but i hear hes a prick

or a sexy bitch…ZeroDaze FTW on Honda ECUs
