Bing what do you do for a living again? Aren’t you like in corporate HQ for carstar or carquest or something? In a way I’m jealous that you get to show personality in your dress. Not that I particularly have a desire for colored socks, but engineers are supposed to be stoic conservatives and all that shit so it would be inappropriate for me to wear them to work. I’d look like a goon if I dressed “expressively.” I don’t want the socks, but I’m jealous of the freedom to wear the socks ya know?
Have you met Newman?
Yeah there’s one in every crowd.
honestly, it doesnt matter what the office norms are. push the boundaries.
I don’t want to go into details about the various things but if you’re good at your job and drive real value then no one is going to give a shit when you break the rules a little. Depending on your environment of course. If you worked for the government it would be different. But then again, if you worked for the government you would be too boring and uncreative to wear interesting socks.
mind you, i am not even close to newman. that dude is rediculous. an inspiration really.
^Agree with Bing. There are a handful or people where I work that wear funky socks with leather shoes, a silly tie once in a while, or something of that sort. It breaks up the stagnant air in the office. I personally came to work one day sporting Pressed Black Slacks, Blood Red Shirt, Ivory White Belt, Ivory White Shoes, and an Ivory White Tie. My G/Fs daughter asked if she could pick out my work clothes for that day…that is what she picked out. Thank god is was tasteful. I never got so many compliments in one day.
I thought of this thread yesterday when I saw that Marc Benioff CEO of Salesforce.com had rainbow socks on during the dreamforce keynote session with 14,000 people in the room.
link? pics?
NM, found it…

WWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PRETTY FLOWER!!!
^ his pants are to short.
yeah dude is only a billionaire too, you’d think he would have a good tailor or a better personal trainer?
He may not look like it but he’s actually a huge guy, something like 6’6 and 300lbs. He’s mentioned a couple times that he has a diet doctor, I guess the guy was sitting the front row. Anyway I think his pants looked fucked up because he had some sort of belt thing with 5 mobile devices in it rofl. He kept pulling out different things throughout the presentation (android, ipad etc etc) to make points and be funny.
I saw more of the socks today when he was interviewing Stevie Wonder and Bill Clinton today, they aren’t that bad.
wtf Pittspeed Merger this is some of the gayest shit I have ever seen… this tops Darkstar naked in the bath tub with rosepedals…
I would rather have cheeks breastfeed me than look at this shit.
What are you guys sporting for sunglasses?
I’ve always been ‘against’ high end, non-prescription eyewear… especially stuff with big logos or chinese made crap that costs a grip… but then again, my $10-$15 sunglasses always break or wear out prematurely and you end up having to buy over and over again.
On the other hand, i see and work with people who have like 5 pairs of $250 sunglasses, none of which are particularly cool…
so, if you had to buy ONE pair of sunglasses and were going to spend a bit on them… hopefully under $150 still… what would you look at?
I’m spying some of the following… Aviators:
Getting something in carbon fibre would be super cool too… Ray Ban has these but iono if they are genuine CF

sunglasses are too easy to lose, sit on, etc. I stopped buying nice ones other than my prescription Versace’s which I mainly use just for driving, golf course, and at the beach. Otherwise its eyebuydirect $10 prescription sunglasses, or 3 for $10 foakleys.
not an accessory to me but i weat these everyday. transition lenses. one of best pair of glasses i have owned
iono man, i’ve had too many $10 sunglasses fall apart on me. i’ve bought at least a dozen in the past couple years. i guess you can get more variety like that though.
right now i’m using a pair of sun-dogs that i got free at a golf tournament and they’re pretty poo poo
A few years ago I had a pair of Armani’s stolen by your Canadian brethren when I went to take a piss at Sherkston and then sat on the pair of oakleys I replaced them with a week later. That was a bad week. Ever since then I’ve been taking my chances with the cheapies. I can have 20 pairs of them break on me and not be that pissed.
Really my only requirements are that they don’t look shitty and that you can’t see my eyes through them, and I really like when I can get my script thrown in them too cause it helps me see far away…pivotal for getting full view of oncoming bewbz.
Kaenon
They’re not really a hugely fashionable item, but they’re a high-end pair for sports and hiking and stuff.
I’m with the “don’t buy nice glasses because I don’t take care of them” crew. My $8 shades from Target do just fine, and don’t look terrible. I have been getting more and more tempted to get a nice set of RayBans to keep around, though.
Once you have a nice pair, you tend to be more mindful of them. Start with finding a sale on something like Spy and see if you can feel comfortable having them around without getting lost. Better off losing a $30 pair of spy glasses than a $130 pair of ray bans.
The Kaenon glasses are just the most comfortable sunglasses I’ve ever worn. I can hike/boat/do whatever for SO LONG without any discomfort at all. The Spy’s are nice, but they feel heavy and eventually I have to take them off.
I havet a pair of $5 fake aviators in Italy. (haggled down from 10. lol)
The chances that I will sit on or drop them is too high to justify spending $$ on decent glasses.
