Man that sucks. Thoughts go out to his family
much respect for family. i hate when something preventable causes some permenate
Everything is preventable…
Went to high school with him, RIP…
Me and the wifey were just talking about this at work the other day. We were excited there has not been any serious bike accidents yet this year. As an EMT I have seen some bad ones.
I know a kid permanently paralyzed from the stomach down from an accident on I90 rush hour. Not only did I pick him up on the worse day of his life but I also transported him from the ICU at Albany Med to see spinal specialists and to Sunyview for Rehabilitation.
My best friend from when I was young was killed in Albany early in 08 as some of you are familiar. These sort of things really hit close to home for me as I am sure they do for some of you as well. RIP and my condolences to the family and friends involved.
Yeah, we are all at risk daily.
But if you’re not ready for the worst consequences, you shouldn’t ride.
Some of you know how I was mere millimeters away from cutting my leg artery and bleeding to death in my accident. Still freaks me out thinking about it. But I still ride as much as I’ve done in the past, although slightly more responsible.
Still worth it. Just make sure you get proper insurance coverage for worst case scenario. Life including.
I just got a text about people meeting up and going to his service on Sat, meeting up at the Dunkin on Lark St.
Number isnt saved in my phone, so I am not sure who it is. If its someone on here that sent it to me, ill save you in my phone (not sure why it isnt already if thats the case) and if its OK i will post up when and where if you would like. The text says spread the word, so I assume it would be ok.
Seriously, if people are meeting up at Dunkin, there is a very high chance people will ride there; which may be something that his parents don’t want to see.
If people are going to the service, honestly I would consult close friends of his or family memebrs to see if it is appropriate to ride there, and also make sure whoever is going know that this is NOT a bike meet. Logic tells me doing burnouts or randomly reving your bike pointlessly for attention in the parking lot of the funeral home is probably not appropriate.
I just replied to the text to see who it was that sent it to me. If people respect the property and service, and dont do what you stated, I see it as a positive thing. But like you said if they dont it will be rather disrespectful.
I know riders stick together, and I have been apart of a charity/remembrance ride for someone who died a few years ago on a harley and it wasnt as bad as you might think.
OK here is the scoop.
Its my buddy George Parra, he was close with Eric. last night he and Erics sister and father were out to dinner and discussed it. They are going to ride to the service to show support.
Service is tomorrow (4/30) 11A-2P at 343 New Karner Rd. Any riders that want to show their support are to meet at the Dunkin Doughnuts @ 11:00-11:30AM on Lark St. They are leaving there 12:15PM SHARP.Please keep it a respectful ride, to show support for the family and friends of Eric, and to show the community that riders can be safe and well mannered.
And please please please be careful. It isn’t the guys on motorcycles I worry about, it’s the other drivers. People do not look, pay attention, or give a fuck about anyone but themselves. I may or may not be familiar with Eric’s accident and may or may not have seen the bike and the car that hit it. It’s sobering. To think that someone couldn’t even look at the fucking intersection or pay attention to the fucking stop sign sickens me.
