Its called ActiveX, and its the biggest security flaw in IE, which is why Firefox doesnt use it. There are also probably ways around most of these things, if you could spend a few minutes researching it. Like I said, for the couple things (99.9% of which are movies posted on here) I need to view in IE, I just use a plugin that allows me to reopen the page in IE with one click.
And BTW, I dont know what version of Exchange server you guys use, but ours works great on FF.
I was using firefox since it came out until a few months after SP2. It started to give me a few headaches that IE didn’t, and with a dual-monitor setup I didn’t really need tabbed browsing. But in terms of features/security it blows IE away.
But since I’ve been back to IE, strangely enough but just paying attention to what I click on I’ve been spyware free for the most part. So until it’s a problem I’m sticking with IE as much as I don’t want to admit it.
IE is very vulnerable to spyware. FireFox is based on Linux and is immune to spyware and other shit that affects computers these days. ActivX scripts can install spyware programs on a pc without your knowledge. I have been using Firefox for 2 years now an had no issues. With IE, I used to reinstall windows every 2 weeks on average.
