Ruger Precision

word. where do you shoot that down there?

are there ranges in WNY at 400+ yrds?

250 at my local club. One near central NY that goes out to around 750-800. I go down to Ridgway Pennsylvania a couples times a year for the 1000 yarder. Go out west and you can start touching 1-2 miles.

If you wanna put serious energy downrange, .338 Lapua Magnum is hard to beat…

Do you have a .338? That’s one of my bucket list builds.

I need a different career to afford that type of pews.

Snagged a deal on it last year. She’ll let you know what your behind. With the brake the recoil isn’t all that bad…but it’s no .223.

Very cool!

I once fired a Lapua before i really knew what i was getting into. might as well try and take a nap next to a grenade.

When the big dog barks, everyone knows it.

@1QIKZ I’ve only heard negative things about pressing your own rounds. What’s your experience?

The only negative I’ve found is its addictive. If you like to tinker and have a scientific mind you’re always looking for ways to improve quality and consistency. What negatives have you heard?

That they explode, lol.

So there really is no quality difference between store bought and pressed? Assuming you’re competent at it?

Actually there’s a huge difference. Hand loads are like a tailored suit. Each gun performs differently. Hand loading allows me to tailor my bullets, brass, powder, and primers to a combination that performs well in that particular barrel. There’s a lot of parameters that can be adjusted. The cost is a benefit as well. I just enjoy the process and science.

I have fired thousands of hand pressed rounds and not had an issue. You need to be extremely cognizant of what you’re doing while making rounds so as to not have a doubt load or anything. Spot checks are key.

This guy was 100% not at fault, but this is what happens when custom rounds get packed incorrectly.

yes garand thumb and warrior poet society are the best. colion noir and Reno may are good for news type stuff but gets a little old

@Motocrossx23 those rounds are $100 EACH? Gucci!

“Run of the mill” .50BMG rounds used to br available for $5-10 a round. Of course depending on characteristics and market rate, those can go up.

My Bread and butter ammo (6mm Creedmoor) costs me about $ .50-.60 a round in materials. Decent factory ammo of this caliber is going for well over a $1.00 a pop…if you can find it.

Today’s supply and demand has reloaders investing in the precious metals group…brass, lead, and copper.
