First 700whp tune.

don’t think it’s crappy, just think it’s a lame dyno queen. what do you need 700 hp for if you can’t put it to the ground. and it’s not that i think 10.8 is a shitty number, i’m just tired of hearing “well oh we could have went this time if we had this part or blah blah blah.” tuning isn’t just being able to make a lot of horsepower out of a small engine.

remember, everybody struggled at some point. not every car hooked perfect right of the bat?

its not about struggling, its about building the car as a whole to do what you want it to do. posting the video of rusty’s race car that was BUILT COMPLETELY for the sole purpose of drag racing serves no purpose. problems hooking? sure, but at least he could dial it in to get it to hook. the kids evo, 700hp spins like crazy, pretty dumb to dump all that loot into making hp and not even messing with suspension, tires etc. to make it hook.

i am with rusty on this one, talking about what a car should run is complete bs, make it run it before you throw numbers up against the wall hoping they stick. building a car to make 700 hp is insane, and congrats for that. but to do it on a car that cant support it is just dumb. whats the point to making all that power and you line up across from a car that makes almost half that and it gives you a run for your money? your gonna feel dumb and come up with the ricer excuse " oh, well i dont have a suspension" thats your dumb fault for building the car that way.

down at the old hybrid, the cars we built there werent the highest hp cars, but at least we got them to hook and run decent numbers. jays old orange 240, kolars black 240, erics type r, and my old eclipse to name a few. my eclipse basically fell victim to the hp virus after we had it running good with the 2g motor and 17c. too much for a stupid fwd. but after i realized it i was neck deep into it and i just bailed. it was never going to hook, so why bother? but you never heard me saying, oh well if it hooks its running 10’s or whatever. when ppl asked me i just shrugged my shoulders and walked away.

but anyway, this thread sucks, congrats on the tune, just get the thing to hook and dont throw any numbers out until AFTER you have done it. just post what it ran, IE 10.8 SPINNING. thats all you need to do.

kthnxbye

haha, that car still doesn’t hook up

Everybody is kinda missing the point. No I am not the owner so this is just my take on it. The car wasn’t built to be driven down the 1/4 mile everyday of it’s life. You don’t think that it’s a known fact that if it was going to e/t strong and hook there would be 4 slicks and full coilovers, and lighten the car up. This is a true daily driven street car, he literally can hop in it turn the a/c on and head down to sheetz and get a delicious mto. If the car were set up specifically for drag racing and it did that, Id be pissed, however in true street trim it got a decent 10 second pass, and essentially rolled off the line and trapped 140. That I’m pretty happy with, not for me, not for the shop, but for the owner of te car who really has put alot of time
effort and care into the car over the years, to finally see it perform in a respectable manner. And for everyone I am not sitting here saying this was our build and this and that. No this is a complete buschur car that we’ve simply maintained over the past few years, and added a few different things here and there. So I will not, have not, and did not ever claim to be on the level of buschur.

There is a difference between a street car and strip cars. Ppl always want straight drag setups for others
Not everyone cares for every last once of effortto gain et

Something else, Jay - I understand where you’re coming from, but take into consideration that J&S can’t build a car that isn’t paid for, i.e. if the kid didn’t want/have the money for suspension, I fail to see how that’s J&S’s fault at the track. You mentioned tuning isn’t all about making big power, but in this case it certainly is. From what I understand, this isn’t a J&S owned track car or something, it’s a customer who came in and said “make power.”

I understand the whole tossing numbers around thing and I couldn’t care either way on what’s said, but you can’t fault J&S as if it’s their fault the thing doesn’t hook.

Damn, this thread is still going on?

Look, Jay pretty much hit the nail on the head. This project started a couple years ago in Steelcityevo’s driveway, when him, peteypab, and I spent a weekend putting buschur parts on my car. Eventually, I called up buschur himself and had the car built and tuned for e85, and he did a fucking excellent job. It was never meant to be a drag car, its just something i have fun with on the weekends. Jay is a good friend of mine and has helped me out a lot in his garage with getting this car where it needs to be. he’s helped me wrench countless times and did a great job working the tune for the new turbo set up to get me running safe and squeak all the power out of it.

If i wanted a full suspension and slicks, Id buy it and be done with it, it has nothing to do with financial limitations but more to do with priorities and objectives. I realize a 10.8 is a pretty shameful pass even with the boost turned down, but you dont see me bragging about shit. I rarely post on here, and when i do its not usually about my car. I keep to myself.

to sum it all up this thread is getting retarded. The dyno is legit, the shop is more than competent, the car is and always has been a simple project for power, it cant cut a good et for obvious reasons, but it does what I want it to do: its ridiculously fun to drive on the street

The end

double post

The MPH that car pulled is more in line with my 600whp runs at keystone, I bogged to the 1/8th mi and still ran 136 with a misfire, I gained 5mph from the previous run just adjusting the intake cam and no fuel.

I would think the 700whp mark even with a bad driver it should trap closer to 150 for that weight. Shitty driver or not cuz god knows my runs suck. I gained 36mph from the 8th up.

The car was not running at the 700whp mark as previously stated

i dont know any of the parties involved or shops. Im just gonna say that you could be the worlds best tuner, mechanic, bodyman or anything and do the work for free your allways gonna have haters and a pissed off customer it is the nature of the game you cant let it bother you

I went thru the same shit. Ppl that barely have an education think just cause you dyno at xxx amount of power you make your runs at that level. You got learn setup with less power then work way up. So don’t sweat it bro, nice acheivement

I am officially finished with this thread and all of it, I’m just going to continue enjoying what I do. Congrats garrett, and thanks everyone hope to see you at the dyno day.

I wish i had the money to simply build a 700hp 4cyl turb car… its cool to have a number, but just b/c your in the game doesnt mean you can win it, let alone even play in it

wow, I thought this could not get anymore gay, if you think the car is a no expense spared car…you are dead wrong.

Not a knock on the owner by any means, stock ported intake manifold, stock ported throttle body, fuel lines, suspension, brakes, wheels, yada yada It doesnt even have a aftermarket fuel regulator on it.

/im done

so sorry everyone is so fucking gay about things, either spiteful for jealous

Some people set out to build a a car that can take 500whp just fine and then find out they can put down over 700 with it. Not all of us care to actually race.

so just to recap… spoolinsteve still loves the cock, right?

just want to make sure I am walking away from this thread, with the right information.
