90 days, 3 take offs and landings to a full stop, no touch and goes required. Same with night flight. Private Pilot cannot fly for hire, but you can split costs with passengers.
And i’m not attacking people who fly 152s, I just know some people how went from 152s - 72s and have had a hard time. 80% of the instructors at my old school, and akron feel the same way.
and no float license yet, if I get one, then I can instruct in it! (I would love some float time!)
To clarify, the landings are only needed if you want to carry passengers under part 91. These landings don’t have to be to a full stop during the day, you can just touch and go, which is much faster. For night landing currency for passengers, you need all 3 to be to a full stop. But you can take off from the point of stopping, if there is suffecient runway remaining.
If you just want to go out by yourseflf, you can hop in a plane and go fly. There is no need for this landing currency for basic good day flying. But if your going to rent, you have to abide by the insurance requirements for that renting agency. Could be as much as a few hours a month, or a checkride every so many days (usually 90). So there is continual expenses. Really, if your not going to fly 4 hours a month after you get your license (500+ dollars a month) then your going to be a shitty and probably dangerous pilot after about 6 months.
When we speak of parts, they are the federal regulations. 14 CFR part ____ . 91 = operating rules. 61 = pilots licenses 141 = pilot licenses from a certified flight school and so on.
Flying is serious business, taking very large ammounts of time and money. You have to treat it like a professional, and look to get better. There are many people that wana just go out and wiggle sticks and putt around, but find out that after about 6 months, that gets pretty boring. If you wana go somewhere on a trip, an instrument rating is nice. Thats more money, but you will be a better pilot.
I love flying, and have been doing it for 10 years, and in many countries. But the path to being a pilot is littered with the debt of students that ran out of money, time or motivation. Just conisder that just to get your license, will cost 7-8k. Thats alot of money. But if you do get your license, I might let you fly my plane
Well, I won’t have time to fully get my license before I ship off to the army, but can I come out a couple times and go up with you and have a chance to fly the plane?
I mean I want to eventually get my license, but time doesn’t permit me to follow through completely at the moment…
edit: and lol at me… I thought it said “fight lessons” at first glance before I opened the thread
I flew single engine Cessna’s when I was in high school but stopped because I ran out of time. What is the hourly rate now to continue it? I only have a few hours logged which were from about 8 years ago
Free present from a current Army guy, to a future one. PM me, and I will take you out for a few flights if thats what you want. Its on me. Just return the facor some time down the road to someone else.
I like this guy. So any way you can arange a flight in the Fouga thats sitting on the side of the hanger next to the tower;) Err office building thingy.
No but really, you are throwing up a really good offer. My only regret is no being able to currently take advantage of it.
I am in the middle of some training. But I didn’t know so many guys wanted cessna rides. As my schedule opens up, I will offer seat time on here. I fly alot alone, its nice putting someone in the other seat and letting them fly.
Had a freakin AWESOME time today flying. It still feels a bit surreal to know I took control of an aircraft today and didn’t hurt anything lol
Letchworth from the sky, it’s amazing how small it looks from up there
man I was whooped when we landed. Haven’t had to think/focus that hard in a looonnngg time. And now I begin to save my money for an airplane because that was waayy too fun. Big t-up to Grant, he’s a great pilot and an awesome guy. Again I can’t even begin to explain how much fun I had today
I had a really good time taking mike out. I did show him 0 g’s and well… I have to warn people more about that, woops. We ran down to Dansville for some lunch. Mike was very capable (he got to fly in the pilots seat the whole flight), and flew from the takeoff roll (I assisted just very slightly with the take off) all the way under Buffalo’s class “C” until we hit the down wind leg of the airport. It was nice to see someone having so much fun flying. I do so much training, both in the Army and civilian, that the fun is usually taken out of it. Nothing like a Arby’s run to make the week good.
Have any of you guys been flying over the Knemore area? Been seeing a 172 flying low. Might be interested in some seat time later on in the year or next. I used to fly back in the late 80’s early 90’s in a 172.
