I need to pull the motor and tranny from a Ford Contour. Any tips or tricks that will help me out?
No idea. The car isn’t here yet. I am assuming the 4cly.
the transmission is HUGE. bigger than the block. hopefully on the contour the trans mount can be unbolted from the framerail, otherwise it will be VERY tricky wiggling it out.
ugh… i hope its not like changing an escort engine. i couldnt get the trans out cuz all the xmember bolts were snapping and it was a bitch trying to get the engine out with the trans in
Ok, it’s here. It is the 4cly, and it’s a 5spd. The good news - the shell is being used for a simulator by some guys at UB, so the motor is just scrap and nothing has to go back in.
Can I pop the cv joints, cut all the hoses, cables and such, unbolt the mounts and just rip it out?
I have a milwaukee sawzall, but no torch. Ideas?
sounds like you got all the tools u need to shoot it. should b able to get it out in a couple hours
PM “tour”… he has probably more experience with contour motors than everyone here combined.
