So I’m in the left turning lane & I look to my left and see a red ford escort cosworth
He is turning right, and I’m turning left so our windows were lined up for a second and I got the chance to say, nice replica… which is when buddy put the pedal down about 1/4 of the way and SSSSSSSSSSSSSS-WOOOOOOOOOOOOOSHSHAHHAH
holy fuck those things sound AMAZING in person and who ever that guy was , you sir are one of the few people that are lucky to drive a ford.
when was the last time you saw a mid 30’s guy driving a cosworth during rush hour?
I said replica and I honestly just wanted the guy to prove me wrong!
if its the same one I know, the guy lives in Guelph, and he had a hell of a time importing that car here.

they come with a hefty price tag, not sure if you can import one from japan, but I know from the UK, they are still worth 20,000 pounds, plus importing, plus registration fee’s, it gets damn pricey.
apparently there is a company that sells them here as ‘kit’ cars, (meant for rally use) but there has been a couple guys who got them road worthy
one of my favourite hot hatches ever. i used to be huge into rally and i would absolutely love to drive one of these, regardless of the little blue oval on the front. i hate the whale tail too but it makes this car what it is. it would be sin to remove it.
i’m pretty sure there’s a guy in Scarborough somewhere that has a Sierra Cosworth…either that or he made a replica out of a Merkur XR4T. it was parked in front of a garage when me and my buddy went to buy his Jetta, so i didn’t get to hear it, but those are bad-ass machines too.
don’t know too much about the escort cosworth but i’m guessing its less than 15 years old?
Can’t import cars from anywhere if its younger than 15. Hard enough to import those that are!
i know some of the skylines round here took months worth of paperwork to bring over.
Might answer your question of why they are so rare.
Plus some buddies out in the UK said those things still carry a hefty price tag
Although the back end really looks like an e36 318 ti
