Forget a turbo, just throw an LS in there. BRZo6

Difference with the motors is where the weight is. The Subaru motors are low center of gravity/flat block… pistons fire sideways and heads are on the side. LS1 obviously is not. That will throw the center of gravity off on the car which I believe was the main focus for these cars with the handling.

I know people on s2ki were saying they lost some handling when they ls1 swapped their s , saying it would over steer pretty bad since they come stock 51/49 distribution . What’s the ratio on the brz?

53/47

I’d much rather see a Sti swap or boxer 6 (like from a 911) into one.

Same! V8 is over rated. GTR is proof you don’t need v8 power. 1700hp street legal on a v6. Why does everyone need 8?

If only there was a way to adjust suspension to compensate for a weight change like this…

Budget

You’re bringing up the 7 sec GTR? The only one on the planet as your example? lol

The LS1/5.3/6.0/etc GM swaps are the most performance for the dollar when it comes to swaps and they’re extremely reliable and readily available.

This car should have been offered with the STi 2.5 motor to begin with but oh well

I wasn’t particularly saying put a GTR motor in with that much power, just showing it can be done. I agree with the sti swap more than anything. That would be a perfect setup for that car and would keep things mostly true with the weight. Being fully RWD would make that car pretty crazy I’m sure. And what’s the weight difference between the 2? STI vs. BRZ

I have a FRS, curb weight is 2758,
STi is 3373

assuming these numbers:

it’s now 57/43

btw

is

I knew you didnt mean that swap. I also respect that people enjoy various aspects of a car like interior, stance, drag, cornering, etc we all like/care about different things. I said budget because you can get an Aluminum based ls1 longblock and t-56 full pullout for $2500-$3000. Mild mods will net someone 400rwhp and be very reliable. That is why so many do this swap is all. Budget vs. desired performance. I would say most people doing LS swap (but deff not all) are people who happen to highly prioritize straight line action.

i meant after the LS1 swap… which i assumed is what the image I posted was in reference to.

Either way would grab my attention and this still does. I do understand the budget wise for sure. I would hate to work on those motors in these cars though when needed!!! haha They look so damn crammed in there.

I’m curious how much weight the current turbo kits add to this motor vs the swap weight

There were two of these swaps in Texas like 10 minutes after the car was released. I think I even posted about it…

I glanced over the build. If weight was a priority they could have done headers(cast manifolds are heavy), 4130 front subframe, aftermarket oil pan and saved a good 40-60lbs.
