Ever read the Quran? It’s extremely violent. Almost as violent as the bible mind you. Most modern day Muslims are about as devout as modern day catholics though, not very much at all.
On another note. You know who else gets harassed in the military? EVERYONE. The racial jokes would fly everywhere on a daily basis.
Try me on what I know about Islam. I would say I know as much if not more than the average Muslim. However, I do agree the majority of people are ignorant. I correct people all the time about Islam misnomers.
Islam promotes goodness but, it’s really out of date and context in todays world much like every modern day religion. It’s the people who take it word for word, much the same as people taking the bible literally or out of context.
The Taliban is a religious extremist group much equal to the Westboro Baptist Church or the KKK.

It boils down to this guy went nuts for many reasons. Most of which started, most likely, before he ever entered the military. With the military making things much worse. It’s a horrible shitty situation that he used his religion as a reason for himself sucking.

I sat at a tea party with the ex colonel in charge of sadams helicopter wing of his air force, A doctoral professor of language and literature and, an hydro engineer (all educated in Iraq but, still NOT dumb people) and had it read to me in Arabic. We then discussed it. They even acknowledged it does have a lot of violence in it which was common place for the time. Much the same as stoning people to death in the bible was common place.
My point and comparison was only:
The Quran and The Bible are both very violent books with good messages and good intent behind them.

Really? I have been to 2 countries that are muslim. Both places, raping boys, beating women and children, and blowing up everyone that wasn’t a muslim was cool. So your saying that your american version is special?

Funny story
So I become friends with this guy that had a shop at the local market in Iraq. He was a really nice guy and would always get me any dvd or tv series I wanted. Really friendly and a generally nice guy.
Well while on quick reaction force duty I get called to a shooting only to find good ol sadeek with a serious case missing head syndrome. Well his fucking wife tells us that HIS BROTHER did it to take over the business!!!
Man I hope the shooter gets death penalty and fast!

Here’s another story.
So most of the interpreters we have are pretty cool. They know how to act with Americans and be civil. Well every now and then we would get a new one. They never usually lasted. Either cowards or non trustworthy. Back to the point. This FNG interpreter thinks he’s all buddy buddy with the soldiers. Laughing and joking and what not. One guy shows him some nice vivid porn like jenna jameson or something. The terp whips out his phone and shows some fucking sicko 9 year old girl kiddie porn. After much restraint on not killing him he was dropped off in a known wa-ha-bi(spelled phonetically[iraqi word for religious extremist]) neighborhood by military convoy and made it known he was with us. Then they left.
Because senseless murders, abuse, child porn, and the like don’t happen here? The only difference is that here people do it for no frickin reason…but to us it’s “normal”. We barely blink at stories like a guy having 11 bodies buried in his basement…or a girl getting gang raped for 2 hours while everyone stood around and watched…or the white non-Muslim guy who shoots up an office building…we joke about Chris Hansen and Pedi-Bear…And yet if there’s a religious stigma attached to it, or god forbid anything to the with Islam, then it’s a completely different story?
Not at all. I can speak for myself at least when I say that I’m speaking solely about this situation. If there was another thread about the other incidents I would have different things to say. My point primarily though has been religion really did not have much to do with his motives.

Example they never show the occupation in Palestine, only when the Palestinians attempt to get some land back do they bring up the Terrorist group “Hamas” bombed Israel.

There are different styles of living and different exceptions of society in different parts of the world, something may seem wrong morally here, but it’s because that is how we were raised. The news loves misery, and the simple fact that Islamic extremists are so apt to blow themselves up for allah to kill as many innocent people as possible is… well it’s pretty fucking miserable.
How many jokes are out there about the catholic church? priests and little boys? The media held strong on that for quite a long time.
I really don’t think that Islam is being singled out, it’s just that modern extremist terrorists seem to want the whole world to know that they are dying and killing for their religion. So, really, they are saying “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME”, thereby singling themselves out. It’s a lot like the catholic crusades…killing for religion you know?..except the crusades ended in 1200ad.
I’m sure that as soon as these extremists stop killing everyone in the name of allah, the whole religion will get a better reputation.
