FS: 1997 Eclipse GST, *Parting out entire car*

My ex-girlfriend put her 1997 Eclipse GST into a guard rail in the rain getting on the Thruway in Henrietta. She was on the onramp and hit some standing water or a really slick spot, then proceeded to do a 360 degree spin. The front of the car hit first then the right rear quarter, then the rear as she spun around.

The insurance company totaled the car obviously. Seeing as she has about $4000 invested in maintence and repairs (Shep Tranny - stock rebuild: new 3-4, new OEM clutch, new control arms, done at Hybrid, new brake calipers, rotors, pads, new tires with only 400 miles on them) over the past 3 years. I told her to buy it back and she could sign over the title to me and I would reimburse her for the buy back amount. Now neither of us has the time or money to put this back together :frowning:

Damage to the car is nothing too major, it looks worse than it really is, and no air bags deployed. Only structural damage in the front (core support, inner fender, and headlamp brackets), the rear is cosmetic. It has around 100K miles on it, and has been properly maintained for the time she owned it. It was her daily driver and execpt for a few incidents was very reliable. The body was almost flawless prior to the incident too.

I have all body/mechanical parts to fix (already painted the same color red): including the inner fender, core support, headlight supports, the hood, fenders, side skirts, front and rear bumpers, and a couple buckets of misc parts, including an entire wiring harness off a 1997 GSX. Best part is that the parts are all the same exact color which my body shop guy says there is only one variant for, so some things may not need to be painted, maybe a good buff.

You may want to buy the car for several reasons:
1.) to fix and drive
I have all necessary parts to fix except headlamps, and the upper IC pipe
2.) to have spare parts
-do a 2GB conversion on your 2GA
-have a perfect spare 7 bolt with newer Tbelt and H20 Pump
-have a perfect 16 month old Shepard Racing Rebuilt Tranny (FWD)
-have four GST rims with tires that were purchased 3 weeks prior to the incident
-have grey leather interior, pioneer CD player, Turbo Timer, Boost. Air Fuel Gauges, etc

I have the clear title in hand. It was not branded salvage as she bought it back. When you go to reregister it NYS it will NOT have to go through an inspection station since the car is 10 years old and mileage is exempt it will not have a rebuilt or salvage title.

I will need to get back what I bought it back for, the cost of the parts I have already bought, etc. Then we are just gonna spilt the rest.

I will NOT part anything out YET. You will take everything I have, the entire car and all the parts at once. The car still runs and drives, it was 100% before the accident.

Lets start at $2500 http://www.rochesterdsm.org/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif

:needpic:

oh sorry nvm

yea deffinetly get pics
i am very intrested

has it seen winters?
if so any rust?

Definitely no holes in the strut towers or anything like that. No rust on the body, the paint was in great shape before the accident, she drove it in the two winters she owned it, before that I was told it had not been through any winters, it was extremely clean when she picked it up 3 years ago.

I will take a bunch of detailed pictures of damage tomorrow, I just have to make my way up to the body shop.

If you combined this car with psi2highs shell (same color too) someone would have one great DSM with LOTS of extra parts to work with.

yea get some interior and engine bay shots also
thanks

when did the accident happen? I remember reading this story like a year ago.

This past summer, I have had it stored at a body shop since it happened waiting to give the guy the go ahead on the fix. But I have been too busy, etc.

And I may have taken delivery on another brand new car from John Holtz BMW this morning, so the chances of me getting around to fixing this eclipse are very low.

do u have an estimate on how much for the repairs?

interested, location?

I have ALL the parts. Even down to cutting off the front of another Eclipse (thanks Bobby) for the core support, etc.

It would be labor for welding the front back together, putting it on a frame machine if you so desired, and painting.

The car is in Rochester at the shop I was going to have fix it. It is an independent guy that charges VERY reasonable prices, and does work BETTER than most NAME BRAND places, its unreal. He never even gave me an estimate, I am sure he could write one up though. He would probably be happy to do the work for anyone on here.

I dont know how it is now, but this was a nice clean car. Good luck with the sale

Put the pictures up, I did not take pictures of all the replacement body panels but they are ALL included with the sale.

i would deff buy this not that hard to fix

u said it runs and drives right?
so basically the hardest thing to do is weld that support in?

Yes.

I’ve had much experience with repairing damage in the front like that on a dsm…lol.
Won’t be too much work for someone with some decent skills and knowledge.

GLWS.

Soooo tempted… buying this would take away funds from the TSi though.
