new york loses 4.7mil… new york retains exponentially more than that from his businesses (and all of their employees), right? the 4.7 is nothing.
It is still not a good thing to have a multi-millionaire leave. State taxes are terrible. NYC fucks us in so many ways its not even funny, not to mention our state healthcare system gets raped.
If NYC could simply generate more income to pay for itself our state would be much better off.
that’s an interesting statement… I always thought most of NYS taxes came from NYC? anybody got data?
oh my god. the :picard: in this thread is outrageous.
paychex pays nys income tax at the corporate level.
paychex issues dividends to its shareholders.
dividends are taxed under nys personal income tax.
VOILA! two levels of taxation!!!11!!
and also, the 4.7mill in taxes per year are not because he is making a 20mm a year salary!!! lol, it is laughable that people are this naive. i bet golisano has more sources of income other than paychex salary, dividends, etc than everyone in this thread combined!!!
the point of the thread is that it makes no sense for wealthy individuals to make their primary residence in a state that taxes them significantly (or infinitely) more than other states. derek jeter tried this and failed (claimed he was a permanent resident of tampa) because he did not the criteria for primary residency.
just because his business is staying here does not mean that his leaving is not indicative of a larger problem.
Exactly. He has a 40 million dollar house in Naples and has for quite some time.
:roflpicard:
I would hope so he’s a billionaire…
So how much does Galisano make?
If he’s a billionaire shouldn’t 5 million be pretty much nothing?
And if a billionaire moves out of the state where he made his fortune, to continue making his fortune in that state but not pay income tax isn’t that not the definition of greed?
I wished he would stay and run for governor again, Patterson isn’t exactly popular, he could work to try and fix some of the problems in NY’s tax code.
No, its the definition of smart business. Why the f#ck would someone give $5mil to a state that pisses away money like its dirty bong wather if they don’t have to. Since you are so kind and giving maybe you should just start cutting the state of NY a check for $250 a month just cuz ur a nice guy.
Don’t disagree with that. But can’t blame him for giving the middle finger to NYS.
No, I call it smart business. It probably has something to do with why he is a billionaire.
Maybe, if that were the original point of the thread but it wasn’t.
The main point here is one man, who earns X income, is leaving so that he does not have to pay his portion of state income tax.
Do you have to be so god damned short sighted all the time? If you’re going to make a thread about someone making a personal stand against taxation why wouldn’t you include the blatent “In Your eye NY” statement of the person?
I understand the ‘smart business’ perception I’m just saying that he made a fortune in NY. Probably one of the richest men in the state. Some of you say he’s a billionaire, I mean taxes are based on how much money you make.
13k a day in taxes means you make ungodly amounts of money.
And if he is a billionaire and he is leaving NY to not pay his fair share in taxes in the state where he made billions I think thats a little greedy.
Sorry you guys disagree but if his businesses were failing due to high taxes and he wanted to move them out, I would understand, but we are talking about his own personal income an income that places him in probably the top 1% of the country.
Again I don’t think NY’s tax system is great its not, and I hate how much of our money goes to pay for NYC.
But honestly he is not hurting for cash, he just wants more of it. Thats not really fair to the rest of us. How many of us can say our money comes from NY but we live in Florida and therefor skip out on paying our share in taxes?
^^That is funny because most of the time I feel like I am one of the only people on here that sees past tomorrow. w/e
:burnin:
I wish I made so much money that I had to pay 13k in taxes a day.
