Gas miser thread 40+Mpg

A JCW is rated at 35mpg I think but for some reason I always got more than that. About 550 miles to a tank.

I’d anyone is interested in a Prius, I know coldaccord sells them

I usually crack 30 in my 02 1.8t jetta. Used to get close to 40 in my 98 civic sedan

You’re doing it wrong.

I can just crack 30 highway in my A3 and the car was so much cheaper than any TDI ones that I would never make up the difference to be worth buying one.

Lol wtf gets 7 mpgs?!

We always used to use our Prius for road trips, but now we try to take my TDI, since it does almost as good, and it’s a million times better to ride in.

Congrats on the new car Tommy

We picked up a 2012 TDI Wagon for the wife in October, she is averaging 39.8 combined driving on the last tank. Taking snow and other stuff into account its pretty decent. More importantly she is happy. Wish my A4 did that well, it only gets about 22-23 combined (I drive mostly around town miles, not too much highway).

I just wanted to thank you guys for conserving all this fuel so I can burn it up! Truck gets 13avg and 9-10 when towing.

Car uses about 1.2 gallons per 1/4 mile pass and gets a solid 11 driving around.

Jeller you getting a p-car next?

In the first gen Civic hybrid I get about 47 mpg with an auto trans, 48.5 manual. 2nd gen automatics are 44-46 mpg usually (civic and prius automatics are cvt’s).

2nd gen Priuses are great, I usually see 50-55 mpg on those. Love the autostop and other times the gas motor shuts off automatically. They have so much head room, twice the rear legroom of my m5, the hatchback with flat folding seats makes it very utilitarian.

We just got an Escape hybrid the other day, I was surprised how well it drove. Gets good mileage considering it’s an SUV, was strange to experience the auto-stop in a non prius at first ha

Maybe…Lets just say I am not opposed to the idea. I will try to get some more seat time in X’s car come spring time and go from there, we have another child on the way currently so I think not much is going to happen until that is all settled down.

Turbo! Come join the crew.

I picked up a civic hybrid 5 sp… haven’t driven it yet because I have to sell my 325xi first!

While I’m not exactly in the market for another e46, I didn’t see your FS thread.

Not the best but the focus is averaging this…
i can’t wait to get the st and see what that gets, my 02 windstar is getting about 26-28

Am I doing this right?
40 diesel mpg x ($3.70/$4.30) = 34 gas mpg

Even though I think I own the worst mpg vehicle GM produces (12/18) I did have a hybrid for a winter vehicle and enjoyed the mpg game.

Yes you are correct in your formula.

I laugh at the one guy I work with that still actually owns a full size Ford Bronco getting single digit mpg’s lol.

The “mileage game” is addictive. Its also quite amazing how many of these cars have been totaled out due to watching the mileage lol

How is the exact way of going about figuring out the mpg? I have a 2005 subaru 2.5 rs and I usually put 20$ in a week and drive like a grandma around 120 miles weekly. The car has like a 16.5 gallon tank and I used to divide like a half tank to how much money it would cost me to fill it up after driving it. But Im not so sure this is the correct way to do it.

An easy way would be to fill the tank 100% and reset trip at the same time. Next time you get gas take whatever is needed to fill the tank 100% divided by how many miles logged via trip.
